Hello all- I have a 2014 Tundra with >160k miles, and am currently on my 2nd replacement (so 3rd overall) AC blower motor (OEM).

The AC blows ice cold, but it blows soft. Much softer than it used to. When I replace the motor with a new one, everything works fine for the first 5 or 6 months, then it eventually goes back to blowing too soft.

Weirdly enough, on this 3rd blower motor, earlier this year I simply unplugged and then replugged the wiring, and it worked fine for the past 5 months, but now it’s back to blowing too soft with a quiet but audible whirring sound.

Any idea what is going on? Could the wiring underneath the dash be faulty? Do I need to do something special before swapping out the motors (such as, idk turn the AC setting knobs to a certain setting)? Quick searching shows that usually when AC is blowing too soft, it’s a bad resistor, but the Toyota blower motors come with the resistor built in.

Not sure about having possible faulty wiring so hopefully that's not the case.
I can say though that one of the more popular mods is upgrading the motor to that from the LandCruiser. I did it and am extremely happy with the difference. This post will give you all the information about that...

If you do want to give it a try, right now till the 7th is a good time to buy it. Lots of dealers are having 20% off sales.

    Good luck:thumbsup:

Thank you!! This is exactly the kind of solution I was hoping for. I will try this out.

A blower motor going bad that often seems to be something else. I had to replace my 2020's, it started ticking really bad and smelled like something was burning up. You should probably check the voltage coming from the AC amplifier as it might be bad. Unfortunately, the modules cost an arm and a leg.

If this next motor I bought goes bad, the amplifier is probably the problem. Although quick research shows that replacing that part is not something I’ll attempt on my own…
