We had pizza night at our house last night. I freaking love making these things. So much better than ordering one.

That's actually one of the things I came across in the reviews of my kayak I bought is that you can stand up on it. I have the balance of a bowling pin though so I won't be doing that. I am completely ignorant of what all is involved with running rapids but I think I know now that a sit on top is not good for them lol.

I'm embarrassed to admit I don't think I've ever had a cherry (I am not even acknowledging the glaringly red bleached terrible things that they put on banana splits, those don't count)

Yes but also a movie reference...

Let us know if you snag some cherries, they are worth the trip to the store. The Rainiers are really sweet while others can be tart but they are all good as long as they are ripe. Stay away from any mushy looking ones or ones that have split skins and the flesh has gone brown...

I think that's taking the responsibility from the evil that man is capable of all on his own. No excuse for it.

Not arguing or trying to be a dick. Text fails to convey the friendly tone I mean this in.

I understand what you’re saying and i’m not taking it as an argument whatsoever. When i mean demonic possession, i mean that the guy freely chose to pursue and allow the evil to come in his life and take over. It was 10000% his own choice to go take that path. The greatest trick that satan ever pulled was convincing the world that he doesn’t exist. We can blame it on a washed down term and simply call it “mental health issues”, but i would consider that offensive to the two murdered firefighters. There is definitely a darkness out in the world that many people either seek out, pursuit, or allow into their lives on their own accord. Undoubtably that guy is currently smoldering for eternity. The only answer for our fallen world is Christ.

You don't sit much higher on a sit on top. At least my fat ass doesn't. It sinks into the water enough your butt is still in the water on mine, but I also went with a mid tier 12 footer. Wilderness Systems Tarpon, IIRC.

If I were less fat and could actually stand up without tipping the kayak then you could stand on mine. I just got it for lazy paddling and enjoying the scenery. I've thought about getting bimini top for it so I don't have to be as worried about sunscreen. It's just so expensive and I'm not certain a Hobie product will work on my WS kayak.

Eh, I'm big on personal responsibility. You don't get to say "the devil made me do it" as some excuse for being a shitbag.

Yup, I can personally attest...:bananadead: Still worth it though! As someone who doesn't eat candy, cookies or any other sort of dessert as I don't crave that kind of stuff, fresh fruit hits the spot for me...

While I am not religious, I do agree that for whatever reason, people flip a switch and then pursue it. I’ll never understand taking out innocent people tho.

I just walk out straight to our own trees. I get a bellyache from overeating them every single day.

The past two years i’ve been plinking planking plunking VERY hard on the birds that fly in and destroy the crop, so this year they have not been a problem whatsoever. I guess operation “Cherry Bomb” worked perfectly.

This is freakin' hilarious and made me laugh so hard... thank you!!! :101010:

I'm sure we all have quirks or attributes that make us 'less than perfect' in some way, but finding a way to articulate them is oftentimes elusive. One of the things I love about you is the way you can say some shit (usually about yourself as you're not someone that enjoys poking others) and the picture it paints is just so clear and vivid. It's almost like I trying to stand on the kayak w/you and we're both tetering back and forth toward our death on the silly thing!!!

Second to last night shift here. Very much looking forward to some days off. Not looking forward to the holiday traffic. Bleh.

Love Independence Day, but I wish more people celebrated at home.

    I will say this...

Generally speaking, arsonists are pyschopaths that are driven by impulse and thrill seeking tendencies. They frequently lack empathy and are sometimes driven by revenge based motives. Even though the attacks in this incident were ultimately carried out via firearm, at face value, the perpetrator's behavior is truly no different than that of a typical arsonist. Some of whom will set fires will the intention of having first responders enter structures etc. that have been booby trapped or rigged in a way that their response is likely to result in the death(s) of responders.

Ambush style perpetrators will generally be found to have issues w/psychosis and schizophrenia and triggers such as extreme stress are often the boiling/tipping point leading to the incident. They are sometimes found to have delusions at the time of the event(s).

It will be interesting to see if this incident lands in the realm of 'ambush' or more in the realm of a murderous arsonist who simply happened to use a firearm as the tool to complete the act. Either there are some seriously f'kd up people out there, and it's unfortunately that families are left w/the turmoil caused by the perpertrators.

and to piggyback what t-rex said, yes many FDs are now issued vests often times in conjunction with active shooter training received by FD personnel who have 'volunteered' to be part of response teams trained to enter 'warm' zones of an incident. In the past FD protocols would generally not allow them to enter hot or warm zones during an incident and they would require the situation to be completely stablilized or 'cold' prior to rendering aid. However, about a decade and a half ago, procedures and protocols (coupled with extensive training) were put in place to allow FD personnel to enter warm zones within an incident to render aid while under the protection of heavily armed PD personnel in order to save lives.

These are truly selfless acts on behalf of fire personnel and something most of them never expected to 'sign up' for. Yet their passion to help others and trust in their LE brothers to keep them safe has led to some really incredible training and deployment opportunities resulting in the ability for a greater level of public service.

Another area of response where FD has been randomly attacked (pelted, gunfire, etc.) is during riots, protests and other acts of civil unrest. The goal of those starting fires and such during an event of civil unrest is to create fear, chaos and cause damage; all of which is mitigated with a timely response from FD. So, in many large and small cities, FD personnel have been subject to attack by these perpetrators as well to mitigate their efficiency and effectiveness in saving lives and mitigating damage and destruction caused by fires.

Response to either of these incidents by FD personnel is truly outside of their paygrade, and they have my utmost respect for their drive and determination to 'get into the fight' and provide service above and beyond the call of duty!!!
