Thoughts on buying used 2022 Tundra hybrid limited for mid 40s with 55k miles. Or the dealer has new 2025 tundra limiteds for 58k. Not sure if the 14k savings is worth the 55k miles. The payment will be cheaper, but would I have to worry about the engine. What’s everyone thoughts or suggestions.

    Get the new one.
Many improvements over first year models. Warranty too.

I don't buy used. I have shit luck and always get headaches.

Even setting aside my luck, I'd go new in this case. The warranty would be nice to have on the newer one. I'd also dodge the hybrid. I don't need more power and would rather save the money.

Go new and at this point, wait for a 26. 55k seems high to me as I just hit 17k miles after 1yr and 10 mo.

I think they are ok and probably would be fine.

avoid the hybrid or long beds (unless you need it). I thought the build quality was inferior to the 2.5 gen.

gas mileage seems to be the same in many ways.

I’d go with the 2.5 gen over new, but that just me. I like used personally. I’ve had good luck (knock on wood) lol.

tons of debate about this subject on here. At the end of the day, get what you like and can look at after parking and feel good about.

Either way, wayyyy better choice than a ford or chevy!

New. Wait to scoop up a 25 at year-end when they are getting rid of all the 25 year inventory. Even better deal if you can wait.

What are you driving now? Signature says a '22 SR5.

A ‘22Hybrid wouldn’t be eligible for the recall. I would pass. If it was a regular engine and needed it swapped or was just swapped then I would consider that to be fine.

Agreed, I did that with my 2014.
    I got 3 rebates and 0% financing..

Additionally, I wouldn't buy a Gen 3 Tundra without a warranty, preferably an extended warranty.:eek2:

I’m also squarely in the new camp. Seems like a minor price difference for the improved build quality, mileage difference and warranty.

Looks like that pricing is pretty standard for those miles. I don’t think I would do it unless it was a great deal. Even then, there’s the looming potential of dealing with an out of warranty engine repair. Is 55k enough miles to negate that risk? How high of miles have these failures happened?

another factor - interest rate will be far better on a 25' - especially if you can get a leftover.... the interest delta might close the gap on the 14k in "savings" that could easily go pear-shaped if you have a bad motor or other major issues...having driven a 25' last week - there are some noticable improvments... enough that I'm debating one before I start my full build /suspension etc and working #'s on tracing my 23' in ....

I bought a 23' but only did so since it was CPO'ed to 100k.

I'd go with brand new. If you're considering a $45k for a used, surely you can stretch a little for some pocket change and pick up a brand new one with full warranty?

Rambling to myself: what happened to losing half the arse value just driving off the lot?

had 22 and got rid of it for taco as I wanted to pass it down to my son. Now regretting the size, want to go back to tundra but since I did that trade 7 months ago I will have some negative equity, but I don’t wanna mess with.

in that situation, I would stick it out with the Tacoma until you are positive equity before making decisions. It’s easy to talk yourself into a bad situation.

Oh man, yeah, been there myself with trades, it sucks. I went too small the first time and ended up living with it for years. Finally ulgraded to a used 2019 tundra Crewmax. Love the extra cabin room.

New. 55k miles would be about 5 years of ownership for me. You can’t buy miles back down the road.

I am just going to wait to see what 2026s look like or wait for late January for deals on 2025s.

Hey now. They've been making Shop Vacs for years that will suck the farts and fishy smell out of the seat covers.

The new 2025 discounted pricing is a less risky and better choice.

That shop vac didn’t exist in the 1990s. Remember when Jerry had to get rid of his car because the valet’s BO was so bad it permanently stunk it up. Elaine couldn’t even wash the stink from her after riding in it.
    That was a good one…
