Dobinson's hydraulic bumps for IFS

    Hey guys,

    I know this isnt solely for the long travel crowd, but figured I'd post here since this is where the best knowledge base is.

    Looks like Dobinson's is offering a kit designed to replace factory bump stops on the front of Tundras (or any IFS vehicle). I had wondered about this in another thread a while ago and the consensus was that there weren't any commercially available options. Obviously this kit would require cutting the stock bumps off and welding, but if the mounts are fabbed correctly, could be a relatively easy way to get hydro bumps on the front end. I love my rear hydro bumps and would love to have that same plush bottom out on the front without putting undo stress on the coil buckets.

    Has Dobinsons packaged something worthwhile for the DIY'ers here? What are your thoughts?

    I think that price is insane. $400 for that "mount" that doesn't fit anything in specific? Their whole "kit" is $1050, for $740 I can get some ADS bump stops with cans that just need some brackets welded on----and the Dobinson setup still needs brackets welded on since it's a generic setup.

    I wouldn't buy that. Now if you want their bump stops alone, that's a different question, but their weld on bracket looks like just added hassle. Adding bump stops to the front should be pretty easy, it's just a bump can with two triangles welded to the sides of the can in most cases. If you can install the Dobinson setup, you can install any hydraulic bump setup and save a lot of money and probably have something more elegant looking.

    I see what you guys are saying. I was thinking the mounts looked pretty generic. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something.

    @snivilous I think a pre made bracket that’s all ready to weld on is something that Sniv’s speed shop should look into! I’m too lazy/incompetent to figure out the geometry, but I’d buy a set ;)

    @reywcms been following your BUILD- badass. I recently got King OEMs and was wondering if a King rear bump stop kit is something to add. Rears are not extended travel. I checked out your poly performance link and saw the universal 2020 kit with 2" of travel-Would that be the way to go? Thanks. Bed is empty with stock bumper and full size spare underneath.
    Or should I go with the

    20AB001-105 2007-2021 TOYOTA TUNDRA REAR BUMP STOP KIT- Is what would be the kit for you. This is a the common midtravel bump setup on spring over.

    @reywcms More newbie info seeking. Im on stock springs and the coilers are set as they came out of the box from King. Is it worth the bumpstops with the stock spring set up? Do you recommend the Icon RXT pack (1.75")? Or Deaver K37 at 2". Looks like the Deavers require some new shackles - not sure if RXT does? With that, Im still on stock gears with 35s. Would you recommend prioritizing gears over the rear suspension set up? Thanks again. This is my daily and mostly sees some dirts trails; would like to expand on wheeling though.

    I think in your current configuration you could get away with Perry parts bumps or Durobumps. If your long term goal is start wheeling it I’d recommend a deaver pack but not the k37. That pack is too soft. U748 with some shackles is a good pack if you start planing for some gear in a the bed also. Gears on 35s to me personally I can go without. That can be later down the road as well.
