Been a busy couple of weeks. There and back to Yellowstone from northern Colorado with our camper. Definitely reinforced my decision on the OTT tune. Last summer I towed from NoCO to Lake MacCaughny. I averaged 6-7 mpg there and back at 65-70 mph. This trip I averaged 9-10 through western Wyoming. Both times averaging 70ish mph, Tow/Haul and D, none of that S4 crap. I don't know why guys do that, I tow weekly with my truck and have never bothered in the 150k miles on it. Regardless, the truck did phenomenal, the tune fixed the 4th gear hold that the truck was doing previously where it would hold the trans in 4th and lock/unlock the converter and drive the temps high. I even averaged 16 mpg in the park with our running around and exploring. A few pics, one to show the camper. It's a '19 Coleman Light 2125BHS. Comes in at 27' from tongue to tail and weighs 4500 lbs empty, but with all the gear and family I'd bet total was around 6000-6500 lbs. of payload.

Then, once back I tested and used the new winch setup. I put a HF Badlands 12k into a Champion cradle. I don't have the quick disconnects wired up yet but I bought a set of 30' 1000A rated jumper cables that are quick disconnect on one end, so until I get it set up I can use the jumpers to power the winch. First test was pulling a mid-70's Dodge 1/2T 4x4 onto the trailer for scrap after a brush fire. The truck got so hot that the bed mounts melted and broke, so I threw a strap over the bed. The heat was so much that when I strapped the bed, it buckled the bed with a loud pop :eek2:

Your posts are the reason I am probably going to get the OTT tune for my truck and wife's 4Runner.
Driving some of the steep grades in Colorado and Yellowstone, it would just stay in a lower gear and not shift when it should... or at least when I thought it should.

I'm about 3k miles into my tune. I'm very happy. I went into it wanting better trans control and hoping for a little more mileage, and I've gotten both. I did get a little extra power which I'll never complain about. Normal feels like Tow/Haul, and Tow/Haul feels spicier.

My mom had the Plymouth horizon version of the Omni I drove as a teenager in the 80s. It was a complete shit box, even the day she drove it off the lot brand new.

I think that's one of the reasons I think it's so cool because yours is something different and at least for me, I've never seen a Tundra like yours. Mine has quite a few upgrades but the engine and transmission is stock. Yours is at a whole nother level. Yes, "nother" is a word....around here anyway. Ha ha ha

I'm thinking about doing an OTT tune myself and I don't tow anything. Yet. I would just like more get up and go. I don't want to run it in tow all the time.

I really wish someone made an underseat storage unit that isn't $850.

Do you feel like the price tag is justified?

Thanks for the response, I no have been looking at the hood bulge lighting options for a while but could never decide on what to get. Assuming this is only for off road use, does it throw enough light to be an improvement to factory lighting levels? Unlimited budget I would get an S8, but since the budget is not unlimited I’m wondering how much utility the nilight has.

Oh, I certainly wouldn't mind if it was cheaper but it's made very well and the new seat rails are heavier than the factory rails. That's worth the price tag to me. It isn't going to fall apart, the welds are done very nicely and their customer service is great! I got a call from them earlier today to make sure I wanted 2 foam inserts. And I did. So, I'm happy with what I paid.

What's your experience like driving a Tundra in Europe? Do you get hassled over it? I imagine that thing is gigantic in comparison to the average car there. Nice truck.

New spare tire straps for the new layout arrived and fluids. RCV axles now pushed back 3-5 weeks. LSK is sending their axle shafts in the meantime until the RCVs are done.

The car spent close to 7 years in Eastern DRC and has only been in Europe (Southern Belgium) for some 1 year. The place is mostly rural and people are sympathetic to big cars (many RAM's around), but I regularly travel to France and Luxembourg and don't actually face any hassle. The main problem lies with parking : the slots are too narrow, too short and underground carparks height usually limited to 6'. Access to carparks is often made difficult by narrow and twisty access roads delimited by poles or fences. Some places even ban cars longer than 5m (@16'4"). All in all it's fun.

Thank you!! I like it and then I think the frames painted black would be cool too. I see a red bracket and I want it painted black. Didn't the Rolling Stones have a song about Tundras? Ha ha ha
