    Nice!!
My Scorpions obviously weren't members of the club!!
They dived pretty well but they sucked at swimming!!
Of course it could have been the turbulence of the toilette flushing.
Been caught in some heavy rapids that Damn near Drowned me over the years.
The worst being when some Assholes followed right behind me in my Kayak in a rubber raft after going through some Class 4 rapids.
Kept trying to resurface but the raft kept up with me going down the River!!
Was about Ready Kill Some MFers when I finally got clear!!
You Never Follow That Closely going through rapids!!!!

Wasn't me. But getting steam rolled by rubber in rapids isn't a fun game to play. That's why when I used to kayak, I always ran behind the train of rubber rafts. Once in rapids those boats are staying on their lines and it doesn't matter if you're in their way. As a kayaker, you should be able
to speed up and eddy out for safety if a raft is running you down.

That's why you carry a knife in your PFD. A slice in the bottom of their boat will teach them that kayaks are sharp.

While I agree to a certain extent the river was always filled with drunk college students.
If you waited for all of them to pass you'd be on the river till dark.
It was the last time I paddled that river on a weekend though.
And having a weekend place on the South Llano I really didnt have to paddle the Guadalupi but it had far better rapids!!
    Especially at Flood Stage!!
What normally took you 4 hours would take you 2
    when the water was up!!
    And it was a Blast!!!
The last time we ran it during flood stage when we got to the take out point there were Cops and Ambulances all over the place!!!
Apparently several people failed to show up on schedule....
They ended up dead and found washed up in the shallows unfortunately.

While sad people should know their limitations.

    Yeah...thats hind thought.
Who the hell expects the need to carry a knife?
Cant say I've ever thought I'd need to stab a rubber raft going through rapids.

The only river running I've ever done is tubing down the Salt river. Stretch an inner tube around a cooler, fill said cooler with a shit load of beer and tie your personal tubes around the cooler.

I'm by no means a rafting enthusiast, but I do enjoy getting out from time to time. I've done it on the Rogue river in OR, Colorado River in AZ, Costa Rica and Belize. The funny thing is I live 10 minutes away from some of the best rafting in CA and I have never ran the American river.

Hmmmm...We've had ours going on ten years now and haven't had a single problem with it.
In fact it's been amazingly trouble free.
So what kind of problems was he having?
Makes me wonder if he wouldn't have had problems regardless.
I mean pools are made to resist corrosion by chemicals and chlorine is far more caustic than salt.

In your case running separate from the rafts I can understand your version better. I was assuming the rafts were part of your cru. My bad for assuming. Back to home improvements...

Today is tent assembly day. Have two neighbors/friends who are retired and are coming over around 9 to help. Calls for 2-3 people to assemble so that's a big help! Very nervous, we spent more money than we should have on this whole project between the tent and deck, and this is where we will see if it all works out or not. :fingerscrossed: I haven't had a vacation ( besides a trip to Maine for a few days) in about 3 years though, and it is under what that all would have cost us!

If it goes well, I'll be off to NH tomorrow for some fireworks and we will have a big break in camp out next week.
