These are very common in the larger cities in the northeast. People park by squeezing between two cars, literally pushing into one, backing into the other and repeating until they wiggle into the spot. It’s a bumper protector that folds in and out of the trunk opening as needed.

 

I've been toying with the idea of fabbing an aluminum skid plate. I can weld, but never done aluminum nor do I have the tools for it. Seems to me like you could start with a flat sheet of 3/16" and cut the shape and score the bend lines and maybe just bend yourself one. I also noticed when I was cleaning up my oem skid plate that it has pretapped holes that maybe I could use to just sort of clad the OEM one with an aluminum one.

Anybody tried anything like this?

What's up with the dash people up at the defrost vent? Is that a common issue? I guess one could simply paint the foam a near-matching color so it wasn't blatantly obvious. I wonder why car companies didn't use grey or black foam instead, so the lifting just disappeared?

Yes! One member did this, and it was in the last 6 months. They posted pictures of it. Hell if I can find the post though.

 

What's the opinion on using these 3/8" astro pneumatic swivel extensions for driveshaft bolts?

Good enough for exhaust manifold bolts as well or do I need the 1/2" swivel ones?
Edit: I may need to get deep sockets on those.

5052 aluminum is going to be softer and easier to bend than 6061, but i would choose 6160 for a skid plate since it would resist bending from offroad obstacles.

Scoring and bending 3/16” aluminum is waaaaaaaaaay harder than it sounds. At that point you might as well just pay a machine shop to bend the folds you need. I think you’d have to score the aluminum so there’s only about 1/16” of thickness left in it. If you went that route, i’d definitely want to add weld to it!

It's a lot of land, not sure people have any clue about the gravity here. Massive offloading of land, which the public is likely to never get back, if those charging forward with this have their way.

Yep, "He" has been trying this for awhile and hope the good folks in Utah are paying attention.

 

Actually mine is sitting in the attic window so the intense heat build up in there might have something to do with that 10 degree difference I see.

 

Just a little frame work after the front end collision. Passenger side frame-rail was pushed out 1/2" or so.

 

@bmf4069 Actually, it got up to 102F today in Boston so maybe my thermometer was correct? Usually a few degrees hotter north of there.
