So read a prior thread but still confused a bit. Need 5th wheel hitch for my 24 Platinum 6.5 bed Tundra. Saw the one from B&W companion...does that require in the bed rails? Does it auto slide? Used to have a Pullrite autoslide for 2014 Tundra and it worked great, but they are not making them anymore for Tundra's. Also, don't get the turnover ball part...? does the hitch just attach to the turnover ball? Wasn't sure why would need both...help...

The ol pull a 5th wheel with a half ton bit. Good luck sir, that thread linked above will help, also search, numerous threads have been created for this all containing some information that could be helpful. There’s a reason they don’t make a hitch for these trucks…..

Can it be done, of course. Good idea, absolutely not.....unless it's some super light application.

Tons of useful towing info here and Colorado TJ has been kind enough to grace us with amazing info on what you can and shouldn't ever do.

Not to piss in your cheerios,

    Welcome

So I have pulled my half ton series Cougar 5th Wheel for over 8 years now, WITH my 2014 Tundra...so, not sure what the nay saying is all about. The 2024 has an even greater towing capacity, so just looking for useful ideas. Thanks

The nay saying isn’t that the truck won’t do it. It’s that it’s not rated for it. That’s all. The short bed CM configuration also isn’t ideal for an over the axle bed mounted hitch, 5th wheel or gooseneck. The DC 6.5 is has the hitch and trailer sitting in a much better position and has more payload comparatively. Just rarely enough for the pin weight of a 5th wheel camper. Again, not usually rated for enough, not that they aren’t capable of more than they are rated for.
