Oh, and pics. I forgot pics. RainBirds setup at red circles in criss-cross fashion, the one closest in this pic covers the everthing from roughly the other sprinkler back to my position in the photo, and the far one covers everything from my position back to the large tree on the far back/left. The garden is setup with central spraying in each bed, with a decent, light fan.

From then on out I always turn on the fan before taking a seat.
Once you get a sprinkler system you'll never go back to dragging hoses!!!
The only reason I still have a hose is to add water to the pool.
It has an auto fill that works like a toilet float but my pool guy recommended turning it off.
You can have a leak and not even know it until the water bill shows up.
And even then if it's not a large leak you wont notice it unless it floods your yard.
Although I'm tempted to turn it back on.
One less thing to have to deal with.

I'm looking forward to never seeing another hose in my yard again, unless I'm doing something. I got some of those u-shaped hose stakes to stake the shorty 15' RainBird hoses into the ground, and covered with mulch.

I've actually gotta treat all our flagstone paver porch areas with 30-second Outdoor Cleaner to kill the moss off 'em this week also, so I'll have the hoses out again anyway ... but at least that's on my own terms, and the hoses get put away right after. I'm just stoked to not see any hoses laying across the yard, leaving dents in the little grass I haven't cut out of the yard.

Might work in Arkansas (AK), but Georgia (GE) clay isn't so forgiving if you have cold season grass like fescue. Two days of no watering in 90°+ temps with full sun, and your grass is hosed.

I've got too much shade for warm season grasses, and too much sun for cool season grasses, tall fescue is just about the only thing I've found that I can keep alive for a few years. But you miss one or two days day of watering in the summer, or let the dog pee on the grass too much between rains, and the yard starts looking like a leopard frog with yellow spots.

We did the opposite. Started off with a stellar husband/wife pool company....the would spend way too much time at each house, hosing down concrete and making sure everything was perfect.
Husband started building pools and wife took over the customers pools. Slowly went downhill until they quiet quit on me and just stopped showing up without telling me.

If you have a great pool person, it's amazing. If you end up having to hound them then it gets annoying.

I ended up converting to salt water and got 2 robots and it's really easy now.

Burns your eyes and it's a pain in the ass to keep everything just right chemical wise. Not to mention it'll fade your swim suits.
A salt cell turns the salt into a type of free chlorine for a brief moment as it passes through the cell and then reverts back to plain old salt water.
You really cant tell there's any salt in the water unless you put to much of it the pool.
The water has the same ph level as human tears so no burning.
And it's cheaper once you get past paying for the cell which isnt very expensive.

Do you get salty when out? I absolutely HATE being salty after I dry off. I basically won't go in the ocean because of it unless theres a shower on the beach. I know I'm a big pussy for that, but what can I say

    Not at all.
Like I said you cant even tell there's salt in the water as far as taste goes.
Cant remember the exact ratio but it's like a table spoon of salt to five gallons of water.

The only problem I've had was self inflicted.
I didnt set the valves right when I turned on the hot tub and the water coming right out of the heater melted the salt cell.

ok gotcha. we have had our chlorine pool for about 3 years and keep our stuff balanced. we don't have issues with it burning our eyes or smelling like chlorine. we only spend about $200-$300 a year on chemicals, but again, we keep up with it all year so it doesn't get out of hand. just check the chemicals every 2-3 weeks and typically just add a couple chlorine tabs to the chlorinator and we're set. our kids have goggles, so maybe that's why "burning eyes" isn't an issue with us.
i was just curious. i've talked to some people that switched over and said they're spending more money on salt than when they had chlorine, and had huge issues dropping that serious coin on new cells for salt, but i don't know how well they kept up with their stuff and if they did their proper maintenance.

The salt is really cheap compared to pool chemicals.
It's like eight bucks for a 40 lb sack and our pool only takes three bags.
If anything you might need to add water when it evaporates leaving you with to much salt.
In my experience salt water pools are far cheaper to maintain than chlorine pools.
    And far easier.
We started out with the standard pool chemicals and converted it to salt water.
Wouldnt go back to the standard way of doing it if you paid me.
And other than salt the only chemical needed is acid and thats rare.

Thats one of the big advantages of Saint Augustine.
    That Shit is Tough!!!
When we bought our first house the lawn was full of Dallisgrass.
It resembles Saint Augustine but has long stalks covered in seeds.
It's even tough to kill with Roundup!!
We killed every blade of grass with Roundup and once it went inert, about two weeks,we resodded the entire yard.
Had the best looking yard in the neighborhood!!
I know for damn sure I dont want to do that again!!!
Some Back Breaking labor laying sod!!
