Rear TRD dual exh, Heritage grille, fog lights, 35x12.5x20” Nitto, low profile toolbox
My 2025 SR5 Tundra came with the rear TRD dual tip exhaust PTR03-34222 dual-tip in black. Family Toyota of Burleson (TX) had installed before delivery. Overall sounded slightly deeper compared to my stock 2025 Tundra Limited. With rear exhaust idle was better tone, and there was a better tone at full throttle. Wasn’t a lot of change.
I added a Houston TIG stainless exhaust and it was much louder. Better, deeper idle tone, raspy on throttle, great sound on full throttle. We tow, and the drone could get excessive @ 2100rpm cruise around 80, or normal driving hitting a hill/grade.
Swapped that system out recently for TRD center section PTR03-34221. It is a true dual input into a single muffler about 3/4 the size of the stock Toyota center muffler, and exits as a single pipe into my -34222 dual tip. Around 30 pounds, super well built, and looks like small version of OE muffler. Sound is better than stock at idle, and improved the dual tip rear system in tone. Not raspy or loud. Nice low tone on wide open launches & shifts. Let’s you hear turbos better. Good overall, solved the drone issue, but I’d like it a bit wilder.
I’d rate stock a 1, stock with TRD dual exhaust a 2.5, the TRD full system of center & rear a 5.5, and Houston TIG a 7.5 for overall performance sound. The Houston TIG will probably go back on this truck. I may try the TRD center section on my wife’s 2023 Sequoia.
If you want some tone and happy family & neighbors then the full TRD exhaust is your clear choice. The full TRD is pricey, and for same value you can get Borla, AFE, etc., but you live in the hills or tow will probably have drone issues. You can’t beat the TRD warranty if a dealer installs (3Y/36K). I just like to do these mods myself.
Pic 1&2 = OE stock muffler to Houston TIG
Pic 3 = full center sections comparing Houston TIG to PTR03-34221
    Pic 4&5 = -34221 installed
Pic 6 = PTR03-34222 dual tip exit location

That won't work. Center section for the Sequoia is completely different.

Thx Sudobash for the input. I need to get under the Sequoia & do some measuring.

So if I'm reading this correctly, I can bolt the TRD Performance muffler (center section) under my truck AND keep the TRD Pro dual tip tailpipe section???

I've always thought it was all or nothing with the TRD Performance exhaust setup.

Yessir. You can use the PTR03-34221 center section with either the stock tailpipe w/ its built in resonator, or with the -34220 dual tail pipe. The rear muffler collector bolts up the same to either the rear stock or TRD dual exhaust. The system uses all of the same stock rubber mounting isolators in original mounting locations.

Saving this for reference. I also had the same Tig weld exhaust. I also have his dump tip. Definitely a noise maker. Around town loved it. Turbo noise galore. Highway my ears couldn’t handle it. Even with the factory exit, resonated tip. It got better but the highway drone. Factory muffler was reinstalled with tig welds dump tip. A slight tone change but my ears are happy. So yes my tig weld is up for sale.

I’m sorry you’re unhappy with your exhaust. That person is unfortunately converting a lot of tundra owners from guys who want an exhaust back to guys who just wan stock.

please don’t be discouraged by that one company’s poor performing product. We have a solution which allows you to have a good clean sound with minimal drone.

I’m not discouraged. I know all about the rift between you and Casey, lol. I really do hope he gets things figured out. I know a lot of people are pissed and they have the right to be. Your system does look and sound awesome. Haven’t heard it in person though. Keeping it fairly OG for now.

Pregnant and exhaust systems are the same thing?

Nope, never said they were. It's obvious I'm asking for you to clarify if it has "minimal drone" or "NO DRONE". Either it drones or it doesn't. Understand now?

Drone in our trucks is 80-90hz in one area of the rpm range. And about 130hz in another rpm range.

My system takes those frequencies and knocks them down to a tolerable level.

It would be misleading of any company to say it gets rid of those frequencies. I believe that saying there is no drone is like saying those frequencies are not there anymore.

when I say ‘minimal drone’ I’m saying that the drone frequencies are lower than they would be if I didn’t do what I do.

I can also say that the only other exhaust system where those frequencies are lower…. Is stock.

I'll take a painted functional system over a system members are removing from their Gen 3s because of the loudness and drone.
Did TIG stainless exhaust start offering a swap if a customer wasn't happy with their product?
Or are customers just stuck with something they don't want?

My 10" BAM on a 5.7 has less drone than the stock exhaust did and yes, it is painted.
No one has ever asked to see my muffler..

    Good luck Bro..

Appreciate the detailed response with actual data. Now you can see why the "NO DRONE" statement you made could be misleading to some readers.

My drone issue starts with me. Im the one that put on 35” tires that increased the stock tire diameter 2” & completely changed the final gear ratio. So now the tranny shifts are off, the ECU is picking up incorrect data on the speed sensor readings effecting all kinds of things - ie. variable valve timing, etc. So when I tow, my truck configuration is always a bit behind and loading on hills. And even when normal driving around 80mph, when aerodynamic drag starts doubling (welcome to Texas), and you get to 10th speed and converter lockup, 2000-2100rpm is right where the truck drones under a bog. Around town I almost always run in Sport mode just to keep a gear higher to make the truck more responsive, and stay away from the drone. Casey’s muffler is a pretty cool work of art (if you know welding), and it performs exactly as I expected. I really, really like it. The full Tundra TRD performance system is 1/2 as loud at idle, and quiet under cruise with no drone, and yet in comparison it’s twice as loud as a stock muffler. It’s all in what you’re looking for.

Mine's also painted and I'm not taking it off to resell. I wouldn't have to resell it anyway if Keith's warranty says I can exchange it for something else if I'm not happy with it.

All good. Glad to help. Wasn’t trying to deflect anything, just wanted to make sure I answered your question as accurately as possible.

as others have pointed out, my system has a lifetime warranty, and that includes sound.

but with over 100 options, it’s rare I get one back. I just build what they want the first time!! I’ve been building tundra exhaust for over 20 years.

I tried sport mode and it made no difference. Yes I agree his muffler is a work of art. If I don’t have any takers I may mount it to my wall just because it looks cool. I just wish that low rpm on the highway drone wasn’t there.

    Thanks dude.

no matter which exhaust a guy ends up getting, it’s highly recommended to paint the system with the exact paint in the can that was posted. The thermal insulation in theory gives better exhaust velocity and therefore better low end torque. Plus; it’s just cool painted black!!
