I've seen several build posts where the Bilstein 6112 coilovers where configured at 1.9" with 2 shims on the driver side and 1 shim on the passenger side. It makes sense that one of the extra shims on the driver side is needed to compensate for the lean.

However, why would you want to use an extra shim on both sides to obtain approximately a 1/2" of lift when you could instead install the Bilstein 6112 coilovers at 2.4" and pickup the 1/2" of lift there?

Or does the 1.9" with shim provide for a softer ride versus 2.4"?

Are there any other pros or cons associated with 1.9" with shim versus 2.4"?

I had this same setup with my old Bilstein 5100s. I had heard that the 1.9 had a more plush ride than having the shocks adjusted to 2.4. The trade off is adding preload to the setup with extra shims. I never tried the setup on 2.4” to feel the difference, I didn’t want to go through the labor process.

I did the 6112s on the second-lowest setting with a 1/4 shim on each side.
From my research, I gathered the same info as @BlueRibbon4x4 stated.
I ended up with 2.5" of front lift.

    My ride is pretty stiff.
Not sure if the shim made any difference than using a higher setting on the 6112.

I'm contemplating replacing the 6112/5160s with 4600s and going back to stock height.
