Is there any option to get a single seat for the rear of a 2001 access cab? Recently pulled out the bench to replace the rear window, and I like the extra space. Rear seats almost never get used, and I would prefer to have the space for cargo, but having a single seat would be handy occasionally. Is there something that might work there and still be safe?

I'm confused as hell here. Unless the 2001 AC is totally different than my 2003 AC, the geniuses at Toyota have already done this for you. The rear bench (at least in the 2003) splits and folds up in a 60/40 fashion. You can either sit 3 across, 2 on passenger side or 1 on driver's side. Is this not the case on the 2001?

It is about maximizing cargo volume. Yes I can fold up either part of the seat, but the full back is still taking up space. Ideally i would have 2/3 of the rear space with zero seat parts, giving almost 1 ft more of space than with the folded up seat. I get that this is not something Toyota offers, but I was hoping someone might have an idea of an after market part or a single seat from a different truck that could be adapted.

Sadly, the aftermarket for our trucks is pretty limited. That may change as we roll into the future.

I'd need to look back on my pics from taking my rear seat out, I want to say there were only a couple of clamps holding it in. If you really want to go down this path, it'll need to be custom, and you'll need to find an upholstery shop to sew up the mofidied seat back, I reckon. I'd go to the junkyard and get a crap seat back, tear it down to the frame/foams, and tinker with how to create the base where it'll secure nicely, then figure out how to cover it.

Theres a guy on here who did 60% rear seat delete on an AC. Can't find the thread at the moment. He cut the seat back portion above the armrest on the right side and added some fabric to cover the side. I've search and can't find it.

    EDIT: FOUND IT!
