Excuse my ignorance folks, I purchased a used 2022 Tundra and only after months of driving, I found out that, because I always put it on either trip A or B, that ODO mileage is not moving at all. Both trip modes are ok with mileage moving except when it's on ODO. I no longer know the original mileage except via guessing but that's ok!
I thought trip A and B along ODO have same sensor/cable.
Any help before dragging my car to a service centre for inspection. Engine replaced already!
    Thanks

try disconnecting the battery terminals and let it reset

had the same problem with my '23 SR5 which also had an issue with the fuel gauge that would get stuck.
took it in to the dealer and they tested the sensors/harnesses, no issues found. then they just disconnected and reconnected the battery.

haven't had a single issue with the odometer since then but the fuel gauge kept bugging out every 3-4 months until they dropped my fuel tank to do the recall on the fuel lines.

The mileage that the replacement was done would be on the paperwork. You should be able to see the service history on the Toyota Owner's website.

    Hello everyone
    Wanted to update you:
Removing battery will not do. Let me tell you the history of my car. I purchase my car (2022 SR5) from Copart with a broken engine. I installed a 2023 engine and things went excellent until after 6 months of driving when I noticed that the ODO is actually not counting mileage at all. I can never tell if the mileage was working right after fitting the engine. Late observation is due to me with the habit to keep it either on trip A or B and mileage is counting there. Here are a few remarks:
1- Original mileage was 120,000 miles
2- Engine from the other vehicle ran 38,000 miles
3- After installing the engine I told the garage to reduce the mileage from 120,000 to 38,000 to reflect the recently installed engine mileage.
4- From that time (about 6 months ago) I never checked ODO
5- When I realized this issue I sent my inquiry here and took it afterwards to a garage in UAE and he said after computer check that the ODO is blocked, that's why it will not count mileage.
6- He said I would need to purchase a code to unlock this block
7- It worked and paid 500 usd and garage sent me screenshots for mileage indeed moving forward.
8- Next day I go to collect the car, the ODO is again locked. Not just that, it even changed the ODO digits by a few miles less than after the block was fixed!!
9- Took it back to him, obviously I lost the money because the purchase was online.
10- Garage said there are two things that could be causing this, gear sensor OR it could be the IC of the ODO. He later confirmed gear sensor is ok and that I need to replace ODO IC.
This is the end of my miserable experience. I will take the car back to him to see if the ODO IC is really the issue. I need the car these days but will take it maybe in a week time or so. This time I told him I don't want my car to go under tests, this time I want guarantee for a week or so before I hand him the cash.
    Anyone near that story?
Thanks and sorry for this long story. Hope it's helpful to see the wonders of the new technology in Tundras.

Bro, that is a good story. Sorry I can't help but you have me curious...if you don't mind me asking - approximately how much money have you put into your Tundra? I've never heard of anyone going your route on a 3 gen Tundra

    Not at all bro
I won the car with a final bid of 16,090 USD
Actual pay was much higher as I shipped it to UAE, then to Qatar, where I live. With my lack of experience, I discovered it was 2WD. Don't forget the engine cost me around 8,500 USD.
Factory paint and chassis clean. Only engine issue so I think it was a good deal
    Hope that helps
    Anytime

Interesting, thanks for the info....you sound like a Tundra fan for sure! I assume they don't sell Tundras in your area or just too expensive?

    Thanks bro
All Tundra here in Middle East are brought from either USA or Canada
    Dealers don't import them, unfortunately.
Their price is competitive to be honest. Just sold my 2014 for 12.000 UDS, my 2022 love betrayed me though, haha

This story really foretells much of the future of autos/trucks. What you/we are really gonna need to do is make sure we have enough money allocated to just shit can the vehicle when it gets weird like that and buy new. The guvmunts (Europe, but increasingly US) really don't want any messing with vehicles. And instead "start new, factory fresh" for emissions reasons. Gut punch for those of us who grew up with our trucks/cars in the 1970's.
