Those of you who had your cap break, did you have to find the broken pieces in the radiator? I’m not sure if it broke inside or when someone took it off at some point

What's the realistic possibility that someone else would have need to remove your radiator cap? From what I've read here, some have found that the missing bit interfered with the thermostat and they had either overheating, or not warming up in a timely manner, issues. I think others have found it in their radiator.

Myself and may other members found the broken piece in other parts of the cooling system which caused abnormal temperatures

I have pulled an aluminum piece out from where the cap sits; but the spring and the lower plastic piece I haven’t seen… I’m the only one to touch this truck for the last 5 years, but my brother took it to shops before that and the previous owner took it to Toyota

coolant temps are fine and have been fine but I’ll pull the upper hose off to see if I can find the spring

I have also wanted to flush the coolant so this is just an added reason to… time to add it to the ever growing list

I replaced my belt, belt tensioner, idler pulley, and PCV valve today. Holy crap, it's like a whole different truck. It was way overdue.

And substantially quieter. The belt tensioner bearing was so bad that I almost wondered if I didn't have a lifter knocking. Now, it is quiet and smooth. The entire engine. Pretty damn happy. I'll be staying up on that in the future.

I had to vacate most of the storage space behind my rear passenger seats to accommodate a subwoofer, so my wife hooked me up with pair of like-new Undercover Swing Cases off of FB Marketplace. ($275). The guy had all of the hardware except for the mounting screws (and for $14 at Home Depot, I had 100 of them). I had some time after work, so I got them mounted. Super easy. These things are really handy for my needs/wants.

Had the ol girl towed to a local mechanic, slid off the road into a water-filled roadside ditch yesterday. We think water got sucked into the engine via the intake :(

Replaced my PCV valve tonight. Ended up ripping the foam out, saw the hose was a little worn Will probably replace the hose.
    Does anyone replace the foam?

I think that it's just for sound dampening. Personal preference.

Sad to announce that I am prepping the ol' girl for sale. Going to be a sad day watching it leave under someone else's care. She has 173K on the clock and has been an absolute warrior. Never visited a shop for a repair - preventative maintenance only. She's going to be missed greatly, there are a lot of memories in the ol' girl!

Just picked up a 1794 2021! Onto the next Toyota adventure:burnrubber:

I felt the same way when I sold my 06 with 320k. Absolute beast of a truck that provided me with many miles of trips without fear of break downs. GLWS.
