I’m a new owner. The modular 4x4 pop up toppers don’t really meet my needs or budget. Does anyone have a Palomino back pack pop up slide in under 1900 lbs? If so, what suspension modifications were needed?

I recently ran a SS-500 made for a Tacoma on my crewmax. It weighted around 1200 lbs before removing the jacks and going lithium for the battery. I have airbags on the Tundra and that's it for now. It handled the camper just fine with no issues. That is the smallest and lightest camper Palomino makes and I needed a 2" platform underneath for it to clear the roof and bed rails. I would still have it, but got a deal on an Outfitter Caribou Lite. It runs around 1000 lbs and is quite the step up from the Palomino quality wise. I would also look at FWC and ATC campers. I have run them both on Tundra's and they fit great. There's a few threads on the forum you can search out with lot's of good information. I've had several campers and Tundra's and never had any issues with any of them, just watch your weight and don't get crazy!

A couple more of my past setups. Both made for a Tacoma (Fleet and Bobcat), but worked great on the Tundra.
