I’m currently dealing with an issue that I’m hoping someone else might have experienced.

Every once in a while—randomly about once every 3-6 months—the truck will suddenly temporarily lose power while I’m driving. The dashboard lights and radio start flickering, like how it looks when you first turn your key over . But it was almost like the truck is turning off and back on rapidly, multiple times within 10 seconds. Like there was some kind electrical short happening. A couple of those times maybe the engine almost shut off because it felt like I hit the brakes for a split second but I didn’t. I think it would turn off and start itself back up so fast that I never lost power completely.

After that happens, I’ll park and turn off the truck, and then it’s completely dead—zero power, as if the battery is totally disconnected. This is after driving for 40+ miles with no issues. Then, randomly—sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after an hour—it’ll start up again and run perfectly fine for months. When it does come back on, it seems like the computer resets: the MPG, trip meters, and everything goes back to zero.

Today, it happened again, but it took almost 10 minutes of being jumped off and me pressing the gas pedal while trying to start it before the engine finally turned over. I’ve had the battery, alternator, and starter tested multiple times and they all check out fine. It really seems like an electrical issue, but it's so unpredictable and rare that I’m stumped. I’ve also heard that it could be the belt tensioner, the computer, a fuse. Idk. I’m not the most mechanically inclined person so at this point idk what to do besides take it to the dealership and let them bust my ass. Hopefully someone has had this same issue and knows where to point me. Thanks for any help if you can!

I would start at the condition of your battery terminals. Then follow the negative wire to the point they ground. I'm guessing you will find your problem....If you know what to look for.

    Too many, but not enough....
Yeah the main chassis ground is close to the battery on the inside of the fender. Any aftermarket electronics? I've found this truck to be sensitive to electrical mods.

Yeah I’ve cleaned the posts and have brand new terminals as well. The ground by the battery on the inside fender looks good too.

    And no aftermarket electronics either.

what gets me is the randomness of it. Just happens out of nowhere, months in between

Keep following the ground. You've got a weak connection somewhere that fails only when the conditions are just right.

BTW, Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)!
