So I bought my second Tundra a 2024 Platinum with TRD OR and Factory installed 3" lift.
Curious what others are doing for tow hooks and skid plates. My 2023 Limited has the Toyota factory tow hook kit (which is great) and factory TRD skid plate.

With the sway bar lowering links on the Factory setup I cannot use either.
What have you guys found that works?

I've got the Talon skid plate set installed on mine with the Factory 3" lift, no bumper modifications yet though.

Does anyone have the Talon skid plates with factory tow hooks installed? I had the factory tow hooks installed when I bought mine and I just ordered the Talon skids and I’m hoping they play nice for install.

Truck looks great! I also have a Talon skid. I think I posted a pic a while back if you check out my post history. No tow hooks but also curious to see what people have other than those ugly tow hooks people are installing.

    Edit: Found the pic.

I had the dealership install the TRD sway bar right after I bought the truck so I could fit larger tires without sway bar rub. They removed the 1.5" drop brackets and the TRD sway bar sits level with the cross member. I then bought an RCI skid plate and installed it as one normally would with the sway bar above the skid plate. This wasn't calculated on my part and at the time I assumed everything worked as it should. But it seems like there's no agreed upon fitment of the TRD sway bar with the factory 3" lift. Folks on here were saying the TRD sway still needs the 1.5" drop brackets for a firmer ride. I honestly can't tell the difference between the factory sway bar in 1.5" drop brackets and the TRD sway bar with flush brackets. But the happy coincidence is that there's no drama installing a skid plate below the sway bar.

As far as tow points, I just installed a Backwoods Adventure Mods Scout Bumper. Couldn't understand paying 2/3's of what an aftermarket bumper costs for front tow hooks that hang below the plastic valance and rob clearance.

I just installed the Talon skids a couple of days ago….the front skid was getting caught on the tow hook bracket on each side…took a little off each from corner of the plate and it fit. I’ve posted on here with pictures…see my post history.

I like your bumper…I agree much better than OEM…..I got a deal on the hooks when I bought the truck….$500 including install.

I may go the Talon route like you @SoCal_Erik. Not sure I want to remove the sway bar drops or swap to TRD sway bar just yet

I paid $940 shipped for the bumper.

Here's two more considerations on the TRD Pro tow hooks vs an aftermarket bumper. The OEM TRD Pro kit doesn't work on OEM 3" lifts, the tow points attachment is considerably less beefy than most aftermarket bumper tow points attachment methods. The BWA Mod Scout has a steel cap/ tow points directly to the frame horns using something like 9 bolts. And there's a massive gap between the plastic valance and where the skid plate starts on the front cross member, just inviting road debris to bounce up into the radiator. The Scout bumper has a steel winch tray that covers this gap and ends right at the cross member so you get good coverage from the bumper all the way back through your skid plate.

I see everyone using sway bar drop mounts to improve articulation with lifts, which ends up making tow hooks and skid plates difficult to fit and reduces (some) ground clearance.

Why aren’t extended end links used more frequently? Is this not achieving the same or very similar results? Seems like a better solution.

I’ve wondered the same thing. My theory is that it’s a more economical solution for companies to put r&d into end links for the new tacomas / 4Rs rather than the tundras since they probably sell more lift kits for those rigs. I think king has already come out with front end links for the new tacos but still nothing for the tundras that have been on the market for 3 years now. I was still able to put my CBI skid plate on with a sway bar drop (that’s smaller than the drop included on the 3” lift), but it’s slightly tilted down in the front now, maybe losing like half an inch of ground clearance.
