JXB Performance Driveshaft Center Carrier Bearing Support

I took the plunge and got in on the preorder for the JXB Performance 2-piece driveshaft carrier bearing support. The parts that arrived were top-notch quality with great fit and finish. I went ahead and ordered the carrier bearing spacer drop kit as well, but didn’t end up needing them with the +1 Coachbuilder shackles and RAS.

Install consisted of using a sawzall to cut through the OEM carrier bearing casing - a little nerve racking but worth it in the end. Use a utility knife to remove the remaining rubber bushing and then install the included 2-piece bushings and carrier housing. I went ahead and added some blue loctite for peace of mind.

Just a couple things to note:
My OEM carrier bearing is about 9 years old with 155K miles. That said, it wasn’t in horrible condition - though, it did have some slop in the driveshaft, and you could feel it going from reverse to drive, as well as from coasting to on the throttle. The JXB bushing removed all of that. Power delivery and shifts are as smooth as can be with the Road bushings I went with. I don’t feel any slop in power delivery anymore, and there’s no more hesitation between on and off throttle.

Is it for everyone? Probably not, but it’s worth it for trucks with higher mileage or probably for those chasing high power with headers or boost. I have no regrets with the install and would recommend this product for those interested.

How did it feel on road during hard acceleration?

Feels fantastic on hard acceleration, absolutely no hesitation. It’s smooth, no vibration at all. I went with the road bushings

 

Looks like you kept the OEM bearing? And how much play did you have in the stock bushing?

The slewhouse option is about $100 cheaper since it comes with the bearing already.

 

Yeah, I kept the OEM bearing. It’s a sealed unit, and I didn’t see any issues with it. I had maybe 1/4” of movement each way I pushed it

 

I think mine also moves almost 1/4” each way. Were you experiencing any vibrations?

 

I didn’t have any complaints with mine. I figured it was getting up there with wear/tear, and was itching for an upgrade
