Both interesting and weird at once. Ive been using only a key to L/U, but owning a couple of newer gen Toyotas w/FOB L/U has spoiled me.
FOB L/U only systems [vs TVIP] seem a good idea until you get tired of carrying another item on the keychain that gets beat to shit daily, then as it gets used, I guess you have an extra maintenance item or start looking for a new replacement unit.
Is your truck factory 'TVIP' system?

Im on the fence on whether its worth the trouble at all [of Piezo disconnect vs L/U w/key], especially if there could be side effects.

Here's my Toyota VIN Spec for Interior:
    " COMFORT & CONVENIENCE
Cloth 60/40 Front Bench Seat w/Adj Headrests& Fold-Down Center Armrest 60/40 Split Rear Bench Seat with Adjustable Headrests CFC-Free Air Conditioner AM/FM/CD w/4 Speakers Power Windows,Door Locks and Mirrors Remote Keyless Entry System Cruise Control Tilt Steering Wheel w/Var Int Wipers Sunvisors w/Mirrors & Extenders Cut-Pile Carpeting Cigarette Lightr & Two 12v Pwr Outlets Speedometer,Tach,Gauges & Digital Clock 4 Pin Trailer Wire Harness w/Converter ".
[* Side-note: AFAIK, truck has OEM fabric buckets and non-JBL 6 speaker if you count FRT tweets as 2 more]
    No mention of 'TVIP'.
    Bottom line for me then:
Does this 'Remote Keyless' system program allow elimination of 'Piezo-Chirp' completely?
BTW: Have read OM and FSM and tried the program access once or twice: no success.

Yours is newer than mine and I'm not sure how much difference that makes.

I never wanted a fob. It always seemed ridiculous to me to have a big chunk of plastic in my pocket, along with the key, just to do something the key can also do. But I'll admit...after only about 6 months of using the fob, I got pretty used to it. I had about 2 weeks of withdrawals where it felt really archaic to stick the key into the door cylinder...but now I'm over it. This was my first vehicle with a fob.

If your truck has the same system as mine, it's really very easy. Somewhere online, possibly even linked on this site, there's a user manual devoted entirely to your key fob. There was for mine. It describes the process to disable all the beeps and alarms. It takes a couple tries. You need to do it exactly how it says. But all it requires is sitting the driver seat and moving one of your hands.

There are also threads describing how to turn off the speaker. It's also an extremely simple job.

Only side effect I can think of is that if you're used to hearing a beep to know that your doors are locked/unlocked, you'll miss that beep.

Thx @MT-Tundra ... I agree w/all you stated about 'RemoteKE'
Uncertain if my truck has the 'TVIP System'; as stated above, I see no evidence that it does. Therefore, do I have an 'accessible program' to manage any settings of Toyotas' generic "RKE"?
Presuming I have the RS3200 system, without an actual 'TVIP' included, it sounds like you are saying the Piezo chirp can be programmed OFF.
Read the 'RS3200' pdf repeatedly and didnt see any mention of 'Piezo-chirp OFF' option.
Did a doc search in said pdf for term: 'PIEZO'. Results in single entry on pg 4, titled 'BRIEF DESCRIPTION- RS3200 Features'. However, that entry states the PIEZO is for " chirps and tones for function confirmation and programming steps confirmation."
I interpret that to mean its a non-changeable parameter; IE: w/out it, you would have no confirmation of some 'program changes'.

So, Im either resigned to omit the RKE FOB [key op only], or I take a chance and unplug the Piezo, hoping I dont start a side-effect in the trucks electronics/electrical system [but I still have this cute little extra dongle cluttering my keychain].
BTW: I suppose one legit reason to use the FOB RKE feature for L/U could be to keep key wear to a minumum, but having good key copies solves that; will never need a battery change as well.

...wow, glad I got that off my chest....
now to go out and start figuring what will be my choice of surface protection for my 30 day old re-paint.

You're now more of an expert than me!

Yeah, lock cylinders wear out, and that's a good point.
