I’ve seen video after video about fitting larger tires in which a bracket is removed that sits right beside the cab mount and lives under the wheel well liner. My truck does not have the bracket. Did Toyota change something up for 2024, or was this removed without my knowledge? Or is it only on certain trims? I have a 2024 SR5 Crewmax 4WD. The bracket in the videos sits right behind the wheel well liner where I’m pushing in the attached photo. I’ve had two things done to the truck. About 6 months after purchasing, I had a 1 inch level installed in the front (with stock size tires). Then, I recently got 285/70r18 Toyo AT3s and some +12 offset wheels installed. Clearance wise, I see no reason why that bracket would need to be removed. The tires just barely brush the very edge of the liner in that area at full lock in certain scenarios, and I mean barely. I’m confident the bracket would not be contacted if it existed in that place. I would be very surprised if Discount Tire would remove it. I would be shocked if they would remove it without telling me or leaving it with me. Does anyone know if my truck would have come without it?

    Nothing.
I've wondered the same thing. I also saw a video where the horn needed to be cut off, it was not bolted on like I saw on other videos.

    These are two separate things.
The frame "horn" is welded and is visible in OP's photo. It is not covered by inner fender liner/carpet.

The bracket is bolted on and would be located behind where OP's hand is pushing the liner back.

I don't think OP could push the liner back like his picture shows if the bracket was there.

It was on my 2025 model, I had to pull the liner up to get to it.

sorry to hijack, but i've been thinking of this bracket. i see everyone removing it to gain clearance. what is it for? this can't just be to hold a piece of felt. seems way to overbuilt for just that. does it server another purpose?

Has to do with crash protection I do believe.

Specifically designed to get in the way of bigger tires.

I think the much thicker welded on frame horn is the crash protection / anti-footwell intrusion device.

One thing it provides is a anchor point for the mudflaps and liner, but still seems pretty useless. But I’m not an engineer…

Looks like it is up under the liner further. I thought it was at the level of the cab mount, but it sits up higher. The frame next to the cab mount is flat/smooth and has a couple of holes in it that I assumed were bolt holes that were used to secure the bracket. Thanks to everyone who contributed. I can’t figure out why Toyota didn’t just secure that portion of the liner to one of those holes. It sticks out with a good 2 inches or so of dead space behind it.

From what I’ve heard, it is there specifically to keep the tire from entering the cab in the case of a high-speed front end collision. It’s crazy to me that people would just remove something from their truck without knowing it’s purpose.

That could be the case, but I doubt the tire would make it that far and if it did I'd be more concerned with the engine and trans being pushed into me. I'll take the chance like most people that alter a car from factory spec.
