Bearing failures typically happen over a period of time which allows for debris to be scattered throughout the engine. That may have contributed to what the tech was seeing in addition the potential debris left by the factory.

That is the most ridiculous cost to replace a motor. I would not own one of these trucks out of warranty even if this bearing issue never happened. Eventually an owner will have to replace a motor...

its certainly a consideration for the purchase of the 10 year , 125k and then after that its decision time for the mid 24 and before the new parts were swapped

    Absolutely.

To be honest, there are not many new vehicles out there I would own after warranty if engines were a concern.

imo, any new vehicle is a extended warranty purchase , it is what it is, things are more complicated

edit: hell, my extended more than paid for itself with my 2016 platinum tundra, ecu and fuel pump and poof , big money

You aren't wrong. People forget that too. I have an old co-worker that blew a 3.5L Ecoboost and it was just cheaper to sell the vehicle as a parts vehicle and buy something else.

Towed last night Truck is at Toyota now. They said they test drove it and no codes and everything drove fine... They trying to say my aftermarket lights were the burning smell and could have cause an electrical malfunction LMAO yea fucking right,.....

Not saying they are right but I've seen Scotty Kilmer and even the Car Care Nut say aftermarket LED lights can destroy the wiring and electronics in our newer Toyota's.

@Brian422 Sorry to hear your engine went out. You show a build date of Sept 23 but wouldn't that mean you have 24MY? Your profile says its a 23'. Not that it makes a huge difference but I have a 24MY with a build date of 8/23.

If ass clowns pulled the filter or drained some oil, they probably would have identified the issue immediately instead of giving it back to you for a second opinion.

Just found this; Toyota made an engine bearing change for the 2024 Tundra V6 turbo engines in March 2024. Just found this online for what it's worth. My Tundra is a July '24 build, so hope this is correct although that's not to say I'm bullet proof.

It's a long video but he talks about why you should avoid cheap LED mods several times in the video. The video is also broken down by chapters if you want to scan through it.

I’ve been burnt enough to know better now. Tried a set of alpha Rex luxx on my 23 f150 and my 06 Cummins. Nothing but problems with each. Light output is actually worse then stock. They are Chinese junk imo, nothing better then oem quality lighting imo.

I actually enjoy my Alphas and i think the output is nice. They def seem brighter than my OE reflectors. That being said i got them mostly for the look. They feel and look high quality. I have a set on my 12 Tacoma as well and never had any issues. Most of the time the problems lie in the setup.

Except maybe OEM fog lights which suck. I know there are great after market fogs that are just plug & play. But after reading about a guy who had his engine crap out and they blamed the after market fog lights is just pure BS. Don't know what the final outcome was, but not going to chance it just yet.

They look brighter, but the actual output is actually less then oem led for modern trucks and cars.
    IMG_9609.jpg
huge improvement on a 20 year old truck that came with 55w halogen with terrible housings. Not a chance I would run one in a modern Toyota.

crash n burn on Tacomaworld is a lighting engineer. Look up the 100s of reviews he’s put out on lights. Mind boggling the instagram junk people put on due too looks.

alpha Rex along with morimotto are Chinese made lights, with American based distributors.

even on that 20 year old Cummins that alpha Rex swore up and down was plug and play, wasn’t. Required resistors to be wired inline in order for the high beams to work correctly or a canbus adapter added. Pure garbage imo. Luckily I paid 250 bucks for the set but not a chance I would pay the 800-1000 for them. Ran em for a month and sold the headlights for double the cost.

Just heard back from Toyota. Tech on phone said i was getting a crate engine so lets hope he dint mis speak. But they claim since i had light bars and air compressor and aftermarket headlights i would have to remove the stuff or they would have to charge me for labor..... Like wtf.

I guess but its literally unplugging wires. But yea i guess they dont want to damage something they arnt trained to handle. Hopefully i dont have to tow the truck to my house to do it and tow it back. He claimed it would be about $1,300 bucks of labor if i didnt do it.
