Hey first gen experts, hoping to get some opinions on truck topper fitment. I've been watching marketplace and craigslist for months now trying to find a good deal on a topper. Just came across a listing that appears to be a ARE cap for a 2004 DC.

From the model/serial# plate inside the cap:
    2004TTDXFX
2004 Toyota Tundra DC XS CX W/O (might be a 'C' after the '/' bad photo)
    1E3 Gray P4444F

Wondering if this is a perfect fit for a 2005 limited DC?

    Thanks in advance!
(Tried searching for that model and color code, but didn't get any forum hits that had more info than the post from Shifty on first gen caps)

Hey thank you for sharing! That's the writeup from Shifty I mentioned at the bottom of my post. I guess I'm just being very picky because I want a topper specific to the DC vs AC that will overhang an inch and it seems hard to find any info on older cap models on the ARE website.

    Super helpful guide.

V series I believe. Made for an 06 double cab.

It fill fit but it won't be "perfect". Mine leaks a decent amount but some of that is also due to age I think. It just doesn't seal like a new one.

    That said:

I know the AC and DC differ in length by like 3/4" per the write up of truck caps for our trucks. Seller just confirmed all windows intact/functional. The rubber seals towards the tailgate look like they'll need some TLC. But an ARE specifically made for an 04 DC I don't think I can pass on.

90 minute drive one way and $300 I can't say no.

Thank you all for the help!

Might not be apples to apples but I have an A.R.E. Tonneau labeled for a 05 Tundra DC that fits perfect on my 04 DC for what it’s worth.

    No opinions here, just facts:

The "DC" in that "DC XS CX W/O" is for double cab. It's a direct fit.

It's an ARE CX series shell. I don't remember what the :XS: and :W/O: designations are for. W/O may be without carpet, No clue about XS.

The original cap color was Toyota IE3 / Phantom Gray Pearl.

I'm not sure if they sell parts anymore though.
