I bought a kit for spraying fluid film and did a few test areas on the truck. Next day, I see these squares of rubber are falling off. Looks like they cover some holes in the rocker panel? Looking at the parts diagram it looks like there's supposed to be a rubber plug (part # 90950-06060, $3.19). Question is, why does my truck not have those plugs and why does it have adhesive squares instead? Does anyone else have these?

Maybe your truck had the OEM step rails at one time and a PO removed them and covered the holes to avoid intrusion? :notsure:

My truck did have the oem step rails and I removed them, you can see two of the bolts in the background of the first picture. I didn't add the rubber adhesive squares though.

I had the same issue when spraying Fluid Film for the first time this past fall. I pulled those rubber adhesive squares half way off to spray in there but then most fell off within a week.
I don't recall exactly which of these plugs I used, but it was either the 5/8, 3/4, or 7/8 inch plugs. I could check the box if you like

Thanks! I ended up ordering the Toyota ones, but we'll see whether that part number is rubber plugs or the adhesive squares.

I can't see them sending you pieces of tape.
    Good luck.

But that begs the question, if the parts diagram shows rubber plugs, why did/does my truck and @G_unit3000's truck have adhesive squares?

Not sure if it's related, but a PO removed running boards mounted to the body and then installed nerf bars mounted to the frame on my 2005 DC.

More research needs to be done. Maybe update the thread and add a poll to see who has what. There maybe something to the fact that both trucks started life out with OEM running boards.

Well, went to pick up my parts order and I was handed a bag of adhesive squares. They were immediately returned.
A set of generic hole covers are on order.

I had those adhesive squares on my 03 AC as well. When I installed OEM steps I didn't utilize any of the holes; in fact I had to use a rivnut tool to mount them.

3/4" turned out to be the closest. The actual hole is maybe 1/16" less so I had to tap the plastic plugs in with a hammer, but they do fit and they're not falling out.
