I just went down to the garage and took a pic of my rears...same side as yours.

Maybe its the finish on the OME shocks?! They aren't used to our weather in the States?

But yours is sand blasted as well. I had a similar picture with factory-installed Bilstein 4600 and then with 5100.

Yeah, paint on ARBs is not very gravel-proof. But I take them over 5100 any day :)

How mobile are you guys with these set ups? Is it something you can set up, sleep and then drive your truck around during day or are you stationary and hanging out for a while?

Super mobile for me. I'm usually only a day or two in one spot as I'm chasing cutties and other fish. A few weekends back, the fish stopped biting at one lake so my buddy and I decided to pack up and head to another. We were on the road in less than 10 mins after we made the decision.

Even if I have the awning out, it only takes another few mins to pack up and be on the road.

I think Jay and crew will be at the Overland Expo this weekend if you want to check them out, or there are several of us in AZ if you want to look at one in person.

I might have to hit that up. I think this was what a friend of mine hit up last year and won the raffle for the icon spring package.

My concern is I'm usually chasing deer or elk and got rid of my sxs so the truck gets me to the hike in locations... idk how easily I could fold my wife or kids up in the and drive off before the sun comes up.

Definitely would be a concern. I've been looking for a pair of quads the last year so I can leave the camper more stationary when I'm on my own. If I'm out w my brother, we usually leave my truck at camp and take his. I used my truck this last year for my elk hunt in 7W, but I'm super close to the unit and just went out daily.

7W is a sweet unit. I was lucky and chased a lot of stuff in 10 but in-laws had a cabin. Now I run around a lot in 22 and some of the stuff around Globe so being able to wake up and go is big.

Honestly man, and as someone that has hunted that unit for 30 years, it is entirely shot out, same w 7E. AZGFD didn't do a great job managing it. Too many tags and too many hunts. I won't hunt it again; then again, Idaho will be home in another 2-3 years, so I'll have plenty of elk.

I've grown up going back and forth through Globe-Miami on my way to Clifton-Morenci and Safford. Hell, I'll be there in another week for a wake. I didn't get drawn this year, even with muzzleloader hunts, and from what I've read, since C19, tags have gone from 70k, to over 200k with everyone wanting to be outside.

I started hitting up some spots on the Gila River around Winkleman lately, sounds like it’s around your old stomping grounds.

yea, way too many tags being given out and with how many people have moved to AZ, there’s a lot more new residents in the pool.

I ripped out my entire bed build this week and started over. Same basic principle, but I moved the couch all the way to the front of the bed, ordered another water tank that will fit under the couch and turned the battery and moved it forward. I also moved my cooking storage shelf to the front. Then I added a sitting bench/toddler bed/storage shelf to the passenger side. The side wall flips up to keep items from falling off when driving and to keep the baby from rolling off. Underneath houses the heater and some soft frontrunner bags. I also sent an email to OVRLND to get a shorter bed panel and mattress made to have more standing room. It's currently 80" long and I'm having it shortened to 68". I also moved the fridge to the cab to free up a ton of space.

    Love the idea of overlanding.
Unfortunately Texas is like 95% privately owned.
While we have Big Bend National Park which is just over 800,000 acres it's a Hell of a long drive to get there.

I like overlanding but my truck just isn't really set up for it. That being said, mechanically it's in good shape. RC Vertex suspension, ARB bumper w/10,000 lb winch, 305/55r20 Nitto Grapplers. Leer bed cap.
Stock 5.7 does fine for me.
    It will go places.
    But that's about it.

Dude...I started w a similar set-up when I bought my Tundra 6 years ago now...

No lift, bumper or anything fancy. Just some RCI skids, an awning from a previous vehicle, and some lumber to make a sleeping platform for me and my kiddos.

Yep, they are very capable vehicles as is and I like the sleeping platform idea. With the tail gate down I have enough room. Ha ha ha

Any thoughts on the Chubby since they announced it? Glad to see so much competition coming with these campers. These look like a great option compared to the Tune M1 or Four Wheel Camper Project M.

Literally learned of it today over on Expo.

For a full size truck, the chubby width is 75"....combine that w the Bivy, and I could sleep width wise and have a lower profile camper. Use a bi-fold panel set up running width-wise, and you could still sleep two comfortably in there, but wouldnt be pushing so much air down the road.

If I didnt have mine built out, I'd consider the Chubby Bivy as a damn good option.

Bivy with the Chubby looks like a great setup also. I just wish they offered double roof fans as an option but it looks like they're no longer offering 2 as an option on the website.

@Fergie would you swap to the Bivy just for lower profile and weight or were there any issues with the over the cabin setup?

@CarolinaBlue No issues whatsoever as far as the camper goes. I took a hit on MPG when I installed my AT Habitat, and the MPG stayed the same w the OVRLND...pushing a brick through the air just isnt efficient.

One of my main considerations it mounting a fly rod carrier on the roof; the height makes it difficult w the cab over design and the overhead clearance being over 90". Right now, it just takes me a bit longer to rig up when I get somewhere, or I just carry the rod inside and do so carefully.

Is that a huge dent in the passenger door or a trick of the light?

Huge dent. I go 4 wheeling pretty often and got into some tight spots between trees. I can pull those pretty easily. Just haven't done it yet.
