Now you guys have me thinking about knee braces vs not. Dammit!!

Just because I always have worn braces since my knee injuries doesn't mean there is another way that might be a better option.

I talked with my daughter tonight about it. I told her about the femur breaks and pros vs cons. I'll let it be her choice.

I have seen some pretty interesting knee braces that are more for stabilization. Wonder if something like that plus knee pads would be the way?

I know it’s a tough decision. If the bulk around the knee wasn’t so bothersome to me I would probably wear them.

Same thing with the neck brace. We’ve all seen what happened with those. Studies saying one thing, studies saying another, people with personal experiences on each side. I have a neck brace, but I don’t wear it anymore. I don’t have any for the kids. Maybe I should, idk.

I went with the EVS Hodges braces. Very similar from what I researched. I’m thoroughly enjoying them.

I've been wearing leatt x-frame knee braces for years. I don't disagree with the thought that with a hard enough impact the force has to go somewhere and it is possible to protect the knee at the cost of something else, but knees are a lot more fragile and easy to damage than a femur or something. Harder to fix, too. People tend to think that every crash is a 100mph yard sale or casing an 80' supercross jump, but I know more than a few guys that have had a low speed fall over or misplaced dab that put a minor twist or sideways force on their knee and it's fucked them up for years. I do mostly slow, technical stuff, so the reward is worth the risk for me

The kiddo and I did some maintenance yesterday.

    Removed header, wrapped it. IMG_8113.jpg

Figured out what the CEL was. O2 sensor, but wasn't showing power. So a little investigation and the 10a fuse was missing. They probably thought it was the spare fuse...even though it said "O2 sensor". That's good to go now.

    IMG_8123.jpg

    Installed some new clutch/brake/shift levers.

    IMG_8115.jpg IMG_8114.jpg IMG_8116.jpg

Kiddo rode all day on the property. I may need to start building her a bigger track.

    Nice find @ColoradoTJ

A friend of mine has a track on his property and I would much rather ride there over some of the local tracks. Seems like it’s addicting, be careful haha. Started with a small tractor ended up with a water truck, bulldozer, mulch deliveries, and watch tower hahaha

We got a ride in today, been scattered showers so the dirt is improving.

All washed up, it's time for new tires so I'll get to it some time this week.

New Tires this evening, been running the Tusk Talons good tire for the price although the price went up recently they work well for what we ride. I've been using the Mr. Wolf Mousse Balls they have 36 hours on them and no signs of breaking down. The Rabaconda makes tire changes easy, I'll never be able to do it in 3 minutes but whatever.

Have you had any issues with yours all shifting to one side of the tire and leaving a flat spot? Seems like I have to pop the bead and reposition mine every few rides to keep them evenly spaced around the tire

I left some out initially and it had 1/4-1/2 spacing between the inserts, however it was a little soft in the rocks with stock 110/100 & 80/100 tires and when I switched to 120/90 and 90/100 tires I added the rest of inserts for the larger tires. The rear has been great it's a good fit with minimal spacing between the inserts and beads up nicely spinning the tire on the stand in 4th or 5th gear, no flat spots and the rear tire feels like 7-8 psi I normally flip the rear once it wears and the inserts have stayed consistent. The issue I've had has been the front fatty it never seems to fully bead up, I don't have big gaps or shifting between the inserts but it seems a little shy on volume but again the feel is still good. I'm between going back to a 90/90/21 for my next tire or switching back to a nitro and continuing to run a fatty. I normally buy several tires at a time so I'm finishing out the last of what I had hanging in the garage, we're getting ready to move to northern New Mexico so riding may be hit or miss until getting settled to see what the riding is like.

I've had similar issues with the bead not seating too. I went from tubliss, which I liked, to these. Might try regular mooses next so I don't have to fiddle with it all the time. I

I feel like, if the front had a little more volume it would solve the issue. I’ve been back and forth between Tubliss and mousses. I hate mounting new mousses but once they’re broke in they’re not so bad, the other thing is they have a little bit of a dead feel, which is why I chose the Mousse balls. I really liked running tubliss for the adjustability and ease of using plugs for big holes, the only disadvantage I've had is the mesquite thorns and cactus quills. Guess there’s no perfect solution only good solutions, I’m going to check with Innteck and see what they recommend.

Edit- looks like they now have a solution the fatty front tires.

And now there's the whole other setup which is a tubliss core with a mousse around it. Supposed to be the best of both worlds

I was going to throw that in there but last I checked it wasn't available yet, guess it's available for 18" rears now, hopefully they'll have the fronts available soon.

Having mounted plenty of mousses, I can’t imagine having the headache of also having a tubliss in the drop center… my trick for mousses is using like 6-8 irons to get one half of the bead into the drop center for getting the other half over the rim. If the 5150 ends up with raving reviews I may have to try it, but I really like getting 2-3 tires out of a mousse (with wedging) before swapping mousses.

Fork rebuild day for my ‘03 CR125. Old bushings were clapped and the fork oil smelled like fish. Made a custom tool out of a computer monitor stand for removing/installing the compression adjuster. Luckily my Rocky Mountain order with a 46-47mm oil seal driver came right as I was about to finish up!
