Building on our 8 years of selling 1G Tundra springs, and our experience with our Tacoma springs, we are now in the testing phase on 2007-2021 Tundra leaf springs.

Just finished two weeks in the mountains of Utah with these springs on my 05. Much better ride and more lift than my stock springs with a 2" block.
I installed Fox coilovers, up front, at the same time. Both, ate up the washboard roads. Great quality and great service.

Didn't have time to test them. I received them at the end of the first week of May. Had a trip scheduled on the 20th. Got the front struts on the 14th. Got the install done in a couple days. The alignment
on the 18th. Took off to Escalante where I was doing volunteer work for the forest service. They gave me a 2024 Ford 4x4 truck to drive. The Tundra , hands down , with the new suspension, beat the pants off the
brand new Ford for ride quality off road. The washboards forced you to keep the Ford at 20MPH or lower. The Tundra was able to run the same roads at 30 to 35 with much better control than the Ford at 20

 

Am interested. Need just enough to help my ass end when I tow my Tacoma.

 

Do you have a weight rating? I am looking for new springs and don’t carry a lot of weight in the bed on road and dirt? Price?

I'm a customer so i don't have the specs but I can attest that the ride is better loaded and unloaded. Considering I had factory rears with a 2" block beforehand and now I sit at least another inch higher,
I estimate at least a 3" lift. Plenty clearance for a 285/70-17. They are 1190 a pair with free shipping , retail, on the site. This is cheaper than having custom packs built. I've had packs for land Cruisers built a dozen times
in the last ten years by well known spring builders in Cal and Colorado. The last four , for an FJ40, were lighter and shorter and still ran 2400.00 for four springs.

Now how bout some specs I’m good at giving a suspension a solid workout. If you can get those Icon 2.5 non-resi’s to ride nice, I have high hopes for the leaf pack.

 

Well this is early because we just started the testing for 2007-2021. Initial thoughts are to be close to our 1st gen specs.
MD 0-750 lbs added to rear axle weight
HD 500-1250 lbs added to rear axle weight
XD 1250-2000 lbs added to rear axle weight

 

Any ideas on how you anticipate towing, even with a heavily loaded bed?

IMO, the big fat overload spring that Toyota spec’d for the stock springpack is a double edged sword: it allows the truck to handle heavier loads than it ought to, but it also the biggest contributor to the “truck-like” ride. Removing that and replacing it with a few more leaves improved the ride more than any shock change I’ve made to date. Except maybe the DK2.5’s… but I already replaced the overload when I installed them.

Your leaves appear to mitigate the rough ride with a more progressive stack, but retain some overload capacity with the shorter, but still thicker bottom leaf. I’m guessing you wouldn’t suggest super tongue heavy trailers, but 6-700 lb tongue weight no problem?

 

Yes the factory overload leaf on Tundra is ludicrously thick.
Our packs are putting more strength higher in the pack, so they don't need to rely on the overload as much.
Increasing leaf count moderately can increase damping effect of a leaf pack and reduce axle wrap under acceleration or braking.

Tongue load of 700 lbs might put around 1,000 lbs on the rear axle. Therefore you would tally up everything you added to rear axle weight, and aim to cover that with your spring selection.

 

We received good feedback from our 1st set installed on Mitch's CrewMax:
"Drove the Golden Road in Maine today (now we're in Quebec, Canada). Holy heck it was abusive on the suspension. Truck rode really well and felt very planted in the rear the entire time. Never skipped once over the washboard of the place, or as I was cruising at 30-60 mph through the washboard or pothole areas (maybe 2 bump stop hits that I noticed)."

 

U guys be mad at me if I pull the overload off a pack and send it…?

 

It wouldn't be good, it would mess up the design, and remove the base for the upper leaves.

 

Install was painless. Looks good, rides well. A lot of additional down travel vs. stock with an AAL.

I’ve bought a bunch of leaf packs and am impressed at how well this one was painted.

Will these have enough down travel to require longer travel i.e. "Deaver spec" rear shocks? Will the down travel cause interference with the exhaust and brake lines?

 

Yes, your shocks will always be the limit of droop, these will be able to make use of a shock relocation with at least 12" shocks, but that isn't required. Extended brakes would be required for that.

We'd recommend a shock rated for about 2"-3" lift that allows at least 3" down travel from lifted ride height. But you have to be careful not to put too long of collapsed length into the stock mounts. Watch out for shocks spec'd for block lifts, because blocks limit up travel by their height, and can allow long collapsed length, but our springs will not limit up travel

 

We should have the XD version testing very soon on a 9,000+ lb Tundra, with 5,000 lb rear axle. And we hope to have another customer in early October bring their 9,000 lb rig to us directly for installation and tune, allowing us to experience and learn if we need any adjustments for production.

The XD is a lot of steel, with a main leaf about 11% thicker than stock main leaf, plus we use 2.5" wide material instead of stock 2.4" 60mm. XD has the military wrap at front and the rear eye is fully supported as well. It's built to take abuse in severe usage, such as hauling a FWC offroad in Baja.

I might be interested in a set of the initial test MD's; minimal lift is what I'm after. I'm assuming the leaf packs in any flavor and pricing won't be available on the site for a while? I'm open to chat about what offerings you think would fit my needs best.

This is a pretty normal day for me. Plus trailering one or twice a week. I know it's a pretty vanilla setup, but it gets used everyday.

 

Ok, send me a message. The blue truck in post# 14 with our intial test MD springs was about 3500lbs rear axle weight, it had our 3/4" lift shackles as well, and it was 10.5" top of axle to bottom of frame rails.

 

Will do. I haven't scaled this truck at fighting weight yet, but my '13 that is setup nearly identically was a little heavier.
