Trying to figure out options to install a Hideaway 10" unit in my '11 CrewMax.

Under the front seats appears way too "tight" due to the air ducts and wiring harnesses under there. It won't easily slide under either seat just trying to 'test fit'.

It'd fit behind the rear seats but then the wiring harness isn't long enough and I don't know if extending it is going to compromise signal/sound quality (???).

Who's successfully installed one of these things and can you share some info?

I recently installed a powered subwoofer in my 2011 Crewmax, but mine is not Kicker brand, and I am using an aftermarket headunit, so I don't know if my information would be helpful.

I put my sub behind the rear seats, and I used a Skar 8 gauge amp wiring kit.

Decided on returning the Kicker for the time being. Need a lower profile/more compact unit.

I have a Sony XAV9500 head unit and Kicker speakers bundle that I got from Trail Grid Pro and it really sucks in terms of sound quality. Not enough power going to the Kickers ... it's a bad pairing on their part and I feel like I got sold a false bill of goods.

If all else fails I'll keep the Sony because the interface is really nice, and just revert back to the non-JBL OEM speakers because they sounded a lot better ... fuller sound, more bass.

My truck has no factory amp so all the power is coming off the head and the Sony puts out 20W RMS, same as the factory unit I took out.

I got the 8" kicker hideaway behind my driver seat, on the floor. It probably would have fit under it, it I have electric seats and didn't feel like messing with it. I figure no one's ever going to sit behind me anyways.

I installed the Kicker hideaway 10 inch sub on my Crewmax. Had on my last 2017 double cab and now on my 2019 Crewmax. Works really well! Trust me, there is room under the driver set. The control knob for volume I placed near the 4x4 switch. Fantastic sub, they usually link to your speaker sub levels. Takes some adjusting to what you listen to, but due to space, and also I just wanted a boosted feel, it is perfect, highly recommend!

Never got in the way, seriously love the thing. When you don’t want bass, it can be turned kff. Never ran too hot. I used Velcro to base of sub so it didn’t slide around. Never was in the way either with the vents. Worked well with stock head unit too.

I have a Kenwood DNX996XR and Memphis Audio M Class speakers (tweeters, component 6x9's, and 6.5's). The speakers run straight off of the Kenwood, and they sound great. I wanted just a little more bass to round out the sound. (My truck did not have any of the JBL components in it).

I went with a Rockford Fosgate P300-8P 8" 300w powered subwoofer. It has the remote gain control so I can dial it up or down on the fly. As I've stated elsewhere, I have no desire to make my neighbors wet the bed from 3 blocks away, and this unit provides exactly the sound that I was looking for.

It is neither slim nor low profile, but it fits perfectly behind the rear seat in my Crewmax. I don't think it will go under any seats in a Tundra. (I say that, and someone out there will have managed to do it). The Kicker would be the hands down choice for an under-seat option, plus it just looks great. The RF is rather plain looking, and is more utilitarian.

For me, it was a toss up between this one and the Kicker. I don't think that I could have gone wrong with either one, but I did opt for the RF, and I've been pleased with it thus far as it fit my needs/wants, and it has performed well.

No way it would fit under either of my seats ... the air ducts on the floor and all the wiring harness shit for the power/airbags made fitting it impossible.

Only feasible place was behind the rear seats on the drivers side, and the wiring harness was way too short. So ... screw it. LOL.

Yeah I considered that option but then figured some dipshit was gonna kick it and damage something on the rare occasion that I have passengers back there. Didn't want to take the chance.

I didn’t have to remove the seat or anything. Maybe the 2.5 gen is slightly larger? I have a vent too. Maybe under the back seat would be better?

I have mine installed under my rear seat in my 2019 crewmax. I easily had enough length to install there
