What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Hm yeah now hesitant to order from them even though their prices seem to be cheapest for pre-assembleds.

 

I don't have 4 6-ton (or at minimum 3-ton) jack stands. Reason I brought it to this guy's house is that he has more tools than me, and a shop with storage space for things like ramps. Anyway there's something about ramps/lifts that's better to work with (unless you're removing tires). Otherwise auto shops would just use jack stands. But yes, 4 6-ton jack stands would have got me about the same height.

I only have one of these metal ramps after driving up onto one while the other skidded forward. This collapsed the front of the ramp and wedged it behind the front passenger tire/wheel well. After this, I won't use unless I can place wood blocks underneath the ramps

 

I did about a 300 mile each way trip this last weekend for an annual trip with my college buddies. From north of Dallas down to west of Austin. On the way down, I was in no hurry and sacrificed 45 minutes to enjoy the drive. No ragrets. And I'm 37.

 

Yeah, I could have worded that different because most of us regardless of age enjoy the outdoors and scenery.
I'm just able to do it in the middle of the day.

 

Ended up calling up 1st gen offroad. I've seen others here mention how much they like the 5100-dobinson combo, but anyone have experience with 4600-dobinsons? I've already ordered new OEM UCAs for a pretty good price ($400 including ball joints, cam bolts & nuts) since I wasn't planning on doing a lift w/5100. I'd prefer the oem ride and lower price of 4600s.

Followed the advice verbatim “For AC/RC with 2WD, both V6 and V8, you'll get near-level with OME 2883. Don't do 2884 unless you plan a rear lift.” So I went w/ 5100 and 2883s. I went back and got sway bar links from Josh as well. He also has fair price on prepackaged Toyota Lower Control Arms and all needed hardware that I plan on getting in the future.

 

That sounds like a solid choice--he told me something similar in using 5100 with dobinsons on the lowest setting only giving a 1" lift as an option. I wouldn't want anything higher than that if at all, probably going to just go ahead and order the 4600s

 

I've got OME 2883s with 4600s and they feel great to me. I also got some parts through 1stgenoffroad and it was a great experience.

 

But only one is a Texan business.
Leave it to a South Oaklohoman to prefer to shop outside Texas.

 

Looks like the ramps work as expected. They gouge the asphalt though. May have to get a rubber pad to put them on and clean them up with the wire wheel to get off all the surface rust.

 

Is your tire deforming as much as it looks like?

Yes, but only one is an active member/vendor on this forum, and got me the correct shocks/prop valve for my axle swap. Also, I've only met one of them at T2S.

 

Tell me more about the shocks. How much travel & collapsed length?

 

Previous owner had a spray on bedliner put in.
Wasn’t too happy they sprayed over the drain holes in plugs, making it hold water.
So I got in the back truck to take care of it.
Glad I did.
Noticed a bulge in middle of bed, and started pushing on it. Water started coming out of thin area. Apparently had been seeping through thin spot because bed was keeping lot of water in due to slope I park on.
So I cut it out. Holy smokes.
Apparently the installer didn’t clean all the trash out before spraying in the liner in that areas. Rotted leaves, and twigs.
Had to take out about an 8” section
Guess I’ll sand and clean it get a can of bedliner to spray over it.




It was put on by company in Tulsa.
I’ll be going over bed with fine tooth comb this weekend to see if find any more.

lol….. I’m here in Oklahoma and have no problem sending my $ to Texas. Especially if the service is good, parts are quality, not to mention impressive turn around time. I’m starting to sound like an advertisement but I really do depend on you guys to steer me away from headaches. I think I did a BBB lookup on SuspensionLifts and saw a pattern in the complaints.
