Yeah I know I want an ‘18. I’d still like to check out a sport though. Still not sure about the hood scoop but love everything else about the sport

I have a feeling they still have quite a bit of things to work out before they can roll out a working Tacoma for next year. Its a good sign though because it shows they're willing to pull back launch a month or two to get things right or atleast more right than the 2016/2017 issues.

A friend of mine is considering a 16 or 17 Tacoma and I told him I heard of issues. I tried to search for the issues all I came up with is a transmission issue. I must have been having bad luck with Google or something, what are the issues?

Transmission: Had issues engaging into drive, it would either delay or engage harshly after the delay...they kinda fixed it with a few TSB, but never 100% the way it should be. Tolerable though. Another issue is the way the shifting behaves, it would hunt gears, sporadic behaviors or sometimes, wouldn't downshift at all when going up a hill and won't upshift when cruising on the freeway.

Rear Diff: Aside from the early recalls, more than half the owners I've talked to has a howling noise at certain speed, usually around 65mph. Still no verdict if the howling is just a noise owners have to live with or a potential issue with premature wear...etc

The list goes on, theres a lot of little things here and there. The truck feels anemic, under powered especially on the low end, the 3.9 gearing doesnt help, no idea why they can't keep it 4.3 like the manual ...

Just a few more bugs to work out.

I don’t see anything on there about Sport pricing. I built up the SR5 and the only packages available are the SR5 upgrade and a bunch of TRD Off Road upgrades. Am I missing something?

    Maybe it’s zip code specific?

its not about the zip code but what regional port you are serviced by.....

also remember that the website will only show regional port availability of certain model/package/options that are in the system for that regional port. what you can really order and what is on the website will always be different.

Greater New York Region -- New York, New Jersey, Connecticut

Sure, region makes sense but the region is determined by the zip code you enter on the toyota site.

Yes but as you look at the region breakout and what state you are in, the neighboring state could be in the same region. So the zip code you use needs to account for what region you are using.

Our 2015 4-Runner TRD Pro has it and all it does is make the hood shake when you get it past 45mph. Looks cool though.
