General Supercharger Thread

Replaced the 16 oz reservoir with a 84 oz one. It's not much but gives an additional 68 oz of coolant. Just trying to keep the SC cool.
Modded the inlet/outlet to accommodate the 3/4 barb fittings and made a bracket. Don't like having 90 deg fittings but will do until I get a different setup.

 

Any chance your starter simply decided to die at the same time - as coincidental as it sounds? I know it's a bit of a chore, but you can pull the starter and bench test it with a battery. Or at least use the test probe at the starter to see if it's getting voltage. The voltage drop you are seeing associated with the high draw is normal-ish when starting a big motor. I seem to recall seeing around 11v when starting, but I think anything over 10 is still considered a healthy battery. I had one jump to around 8v when starting, indicating a bad cell. Anyways, the voltage drop would indicate a load on the battery, which would happen whether or not the starter was good, if that makes sense. Should rule out some wiring issues. I'd look at the starter itself. I've seen them jamb up and produce the same result - either a click or no crank situation but the battery voltage still sags.

 

Yep, that's the plan now. No sure if I will order the AirDesign vents or adapt bigger vents. Added a longer vent using a photo editor to have an idea and I love how it looks....

 

I finally installed my engine oil adapter, remote filter and oil cooler. I had to unwrap and pull the stock oil pressure sensor wire further back so it would plug into the sensor's new location, then tape it back up. I need to make 4 short hoses and fill oil, then my oil cooler project will finally be done.

 

@e30cabrio - just thought about one more thing. Try removing the serpentine belt and see if it cranks.

I had a couple of buddies in high school that happened upon an old corvette with a bad motor in their neighbors barn. Neighbor sold it to them cheap on account of the bad motor that wouldn’t turn over. They looked it over with some help from a mechanic and found the alternator to be seized up. $100 later and they had a running, driving corvette.

 

Had mine over 120 a few times as well with plenty in the tank when I let off.

 

My Harrop definitely came with a pump.

Good news! It turns!!

I'm pretty sure I fried the new starter being an idiot, trying to start it. It's already 85 @ 6:39am, I'm too old to fuck with the starter so will find someone to come do it after making sure it's dead and getting another from Toyota.

Tips on getting around everything that's in the way to get power directly to the solenoid greatly appreciated. (I looked while I was under there, can barely see the back of the solenoid)

This is why I replaced it when the motor was out.

I'm just happy the motor isn't dead, honey I have to get a new motor wasn't a conversation I was looking forward to.

Had a buddy in college buy a bus for his band. They will fit through certain mcdonald's drive thru's and no one questions a bus stopped in front of kroger with the stop sign out.

Is there a starter fuse in the fusebox out set of fusible links? It sucks to remove but is way easier than the starter.

The short buses are expensive! The 40 footer was only $3500 and if you're buying a bus, buy a proper big boi bus!

Yes, another self inflicted injury, Land Cruiser HVAC fan was reverse polarity, that is how I became a Fusible master tech.

It's now a simple 10 minute job for me & the OEM part is sub 60 bucks. (ordered)

 

If I'm not mistaken, this fuse link blocks come out thru the bottom of the fuse box because they are bolted in.

It's been a while since I've replace one.
I think it's harder than doing the starter

 

Yup you have to lift up the middle of the box to access the bolts which look similar but one is 10mm and another is 8. Why Toyota??

I had to do it several times. It's easy now, like r&ring BMW motors the 20th time in under a year.

 

WHY TOYOTA??? I ask myself that everyday, since we now have GM engineers working for us.....

 

Pulled it out, none appear blown, as best I can tell there is continuity to all. I'll have the new one tomorrow, starter will ship whenever.


Why are the biggest wires 8mm, the rest 10??

 

Supposed to pick up the Truck tomorrow....
