    Hi,
I recently bought a 2014 platinum edition, and found this box/antenna attached to the windshield to the right of the rear view mirror. Does anyone know what it is? Is it original to the truck or aftermarket?

Looks like an alarm and/or remote start system remote receiver. I have one that is very similar on the Viper system in my 2011 Tundra.

wow, thanks for the quick reply.

    I didn't know that the truck had/has a remote start/alarm.

I'll start looking for a module to help ID the make.

any tips? I'm all open for suggestions on what to look for.

I'm hoping which ever system it is, i get get a new fob for it.

DO you have the OEM key fob?
Some after market stuff works with the OEM fob, some like mine do not..

The alarm SHOULD be under the dash on the driver's side.
A box with a BUNCH of wires that doesn't look OEM.
There is a chance the previous owner removed it but left the antenna.

If you sit in or out of the truck and lock it with the key fob do you see any mounted LED blinking?
It could be anywhere, the dash, A pillar, on the console, etc..
There is a security light in the dash, but many aftermarket alarms would have a separate LED indicating it is armed.

I have no idea what you have, but here is a generic instruction sheet.

If you really wanted to get into it, you could remove the driver's A pillar and see if they ran the antenna wire on that side.
Then follow the wire and see if it connects to anything.
You also may be able to pop out the driver's side dash speaker cover and see if there is any wiring heading up the A pillar from under the dash that doesn't look stock.
Look for that thick wire you see on the antenna tucked into the headliner.

Also, look for inline fuses like this under the dash; they won't be OEM.

As well look the antenna over real good and see if there is any wording or numbers on it.
    If so, Google them.

I still have and use the original key fob. I didn't think about the system using the original key fob. Ive seen some that you press a sequence of buttons to remote start

I'll try taking a peak behind the a-pillars to see if i can trace the wires. Again thanks for the help and quick responses.
