    Hello all,

I have a 2016 Tundra with 118,000kms (73,000mi). I have noticed a knocking noise coming from the engine which has occurred on two separate occasions. Both times the knocking stopped after I turned off the truck and started it back up again. A friend of mine who is a mechanic figures it might be a lifter issue. Anyone have a similar issue? TIA

This sounds like what mine is doing. I'm trying to figure out if it's the timing chain tensioner or a collapsed lifter.

I have the same noise, although it's not consistent.

Although a different vehicle, a few years back in a 5.7 Hemi had the stuck lifters on cylinder 3 that basically destroyed the engine. It had the tick, but also ran like crap at idle and threw a code for misfire on 3. Was still drivable to repair shop, but really noticed the rough running.

Sounds like a lifter. I have a much less loud ticking but I'm 99% sure it's just the timing chain tensioner.

Technically you're right, but these do have lash adjusters that are also referred to as lifters.

Did you recently disconnect the battery and let the ECU clear idling data? If so let it idle for like 5 minutes, restart and see if it goes away, I've had nearly an identical noise and that worked for me.
