Tires, Towing, on a 3 inch lift/ suspension maintenance.

    3 inch lift 33 inch tires
    Hi everyone,

    You folks were very helpful a couple years ago when I was picking out a truck. Finally got a 2014 tundra 2 years ago and I love it.

    I am looking at picking out new tires. Since I have a three inch lift I do like to have bigger tires. My current set is 10 ply 295 70 R 18 bridgestone duelers. I like them, got them at a discount used last summer and I need them. My first set were Cooper 285 75 17R. They looked bigger but I like both. I was wondering what would be best for both towing and snow. I spend a lot of time working up a mountain in the winter but tow in the summer. I was thinking on getting the duelers again but I am open to anything.

    Also, side question, what's the best way to maintain your suspension. I'll attach a picture but I feel like mine is looking a little rough.

    I have the Michelin defenders on my truck right now since I'm mostly highway for work anyways but my next set would probably be Toyo A/T 3's. I've ran the Toyo A/T 2's on my last truck over 60000 miles and they were awesome as a 10ply tire on highway and mild off-road use. Then after A/t 2's wore out i had nitto trail grapplers which were awesome off-road but noisy on the highway.

    Sounds like you need 2 sets.
    1.Snow/ winter tires
    2. Tow/ summer tires

    The characteristics that make 1 great at what it does are a huge compromise for doing the other.

    I like the KO2s, they've been good in the Canadian snow for me, just as good as the Falken At3w's I also tow with them very often.

    I do rotate them every oil change and I'm very vigilant on tire pressure when towing, I noticed with Tundras tire rotation is key to keep them wear even.

    As good as the Ko2s are in the snow, it still wont' beat a good set of snow tires, hopefully Nokian will introduce the LT3s in 37s (they do have them in 35s).

    For suspension maintenance, I just power wash once a week during winter, I do have billet UCAs so I grease the delta joints per each oil change.

    I also have a 3” lift w/ 35” Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They are nice in snow and pulling 29’ camper.

    Nokian Outpost NAT’s have been phenomenal in mixed conditions, wintry muck, snow, and even mud. I tow and haul regularly. I ran two sets of Cooper AT3’s and they are a great tire, but the Nokians beat them handily.

    Slogged through this storm no problem. Had to do half of it in 2wd (long story).

    Edit - forgot to add, I still hang out with the stock tire size crowd. But between the two sizes you mentioned, I’d prolly go with 285/75r18.
