Looks like I’ll have to check this place out on our summer trip

 

It's good, but busy AF, so plan on standing room only or a loooooong wait... especially in the summer!!!

Here's another one that's definitely a lot more famous, but worth a visit if you haven't done so; it's in Ocean Beach area of San Diego...

Cali has damn good food. I’ll give em that.

 

We ate pizza right across from hodads our first year. But we did have Mexican food a few spaces down that was pretty tasty; can’t remember the name of the place. I met with @Mater and some of the 1st gen socal crew at OB surf club, it was a shit show!!!

it might have been mikes taco club, but we’ve been to La Dona every year and it’s really good, dogs and children allowed, so it’s right up our alley

Unfortunately, our annual 'reset' winter vacations in SD were something we were doing a few years before I knew of Tundras.com...

But, yeah, we were usually down there from Thanksgiving through New Year's and had developed an almost compulsive list of must do's each year that included Christmas events (Candy Cane Ln in Poway, Christmas Card lane in Rancho Pensaquitos, Parade of Lights, Balboa Park, Seaport Village, Coronado, SailBoat charter w/Seaforth Boat rentals, a couple of whale watches, head up north to Carlsbad for a little shopping and Blue Ribbon Pizza Co, and can't forget about heading out to east to Julian a couple of times for cider donuts, apple cider, etc...) and a ton of our favorite food places including a little Italian Deli down by Grape St. off India I believe named Assenti's... We always took a panini grill w/us and would hit the deli for some meats, peppers, wine, and such (these people were always so awesome), go back to the room and sit on the patio watching the ocean while snacking w/some wine through the night!!!!

We'd spend most of our late afternoons w/tacos and shrimp ceviche (a la cart from Oscars) while sitting on the rocks at WindnSea watching folks surf till sunset

Winter in SD was much nicer in my opinion than summer as it was less busy and quite a bit cheaper.

 

All time favorite taco shop in SD... La Fachada!!!! It's downtown off 25th St... Do not judge this place by appearance or location!!!! My understanding is that it's damn busy in the day, but after hours (we usually would hit it around 11pm till about 1am). The inside portion (lobby area) would be closed, but they'd have the outdoor tent up w/covered seating. You could order most of the menu, and they'd have an outdoor self-service grill/stove running w/a large pot of beans, grilled jalapeños and banana peppers, and taco fixings cart...

So, you could enjoy some hot and damn good beans and while you wait the obligatory 5 minutes for your tacos be ready... Their breakfast burritos were very good as well, but you had to wait till morning for those and it was a little bit of a wait (but well worth it)...

Ever stop in the live music bar Blind Melons on Garnet Ave in PB? I worked there from 95-03...

 

No... I'm not a huge fan of confined spaces w/lot of humans, and my time in PB would have been from about '06-'18
