I legitimately cannot remember the last time I wore shorts in public. It has to have been at least five or six years.

Seriously dumb. We basically have no dress code where I work now. I'm wearing shorts and a tshirt right now, and I'm comfortable and getting my job done. It's more common sense... don't wear anything offensive. That's it. You want to show off your boobs a little, no problem.
The last place I worked was business casual for all office employees, which I defied with no problems for about 24 years. I would wear jeans and a tshirt every day, except when there was a customer that was coming in that I had to directly work with. Then I would wear a company logo polo. The last 3 years working there we got a new CEO and he really wanted to know why I didn't follow the dress code. He aksed lots of people but never approached me about it. But everyone knew, that because I worked directly in the office and our machine shop, there was no way I was going to wear "nice" stuff every day and potentially ruin clothes in the shop.

My neighbour has a relatively new Powerstroke F350. He has used it for a couple of his home projects but usually he makes someone else (not sure if it's his son or what) bring one of his old trucks over.

I miss my company enforcing its dress code.
I've lived it for almost 40 years.
We used to look like professionals, now some of our drivers look like homeless people and/or street thugs.
It's embarrassing, but the woke mob won..:eek2:

Always have been :D I have legitimate reasons though. First reason is my hatred of sunscreen. Even before the study that came out recently that says a large percentage of sunscreens cause cancer, I still didn't like using them because of how they smelled, and how they felt, not to mention you had to reapply them depending on how long you were out. Much easier to just wear long clothing. The second reason is if you are someone like me who spends the majority of their free time outdoors, you want to minimize the amount of bare skin you have showing so that all the various annoying ass bugs have less of a target. Lastly, nobody wants to see these legs lol.

Sweat pants should never be worn in public, let alone as work attire. That's the one thing that kills me about Gen alpha and how they made sweat pants a regular thing and now dudes in their 40's and 50's think that just because they have pockets they are acceptable for dining out and running errands.

I can jive with some company's who have dress codes. So I can see how that would make you feel about the yoots changing a long standing code ya'll used to have.

the worst is when you see dudes tucking in their t shirts. WTF is that all about?

    Trucker, right?

You are not kidding there. I've seen some guys and gals roll out of their trucks like they've been playing video games all night in their mom's basement. Dirty sweats, hair all jacked up.
I could go on but I'm sure you know the look

I do not think truckers should have a specific dress code, but I do agree that them looking like a homeless man is kind of off-putting.

There are plenty of problems a dress code can't address, but in an office environment some semblance of politesse has to be enforced. Sweat pants, the ever-beloved-in-the-right-circumstances-but-often-misused yoga pants, ratty ass clothes of any kind, etc. are easy to rule out. I was very, very sorry for getting a girl fired for wearing way, way too much horrible perfume around me. Certain clothing styles that would be the ethnic equivalent of a white hood and cape should be banned, but often aren't. There's no way to cover everything.

It's unfortunate, but behaviors have to be controlled as well because nobody seems to understand basic manners anymore. Things that are as or more impolite as nuking leftover salmon in the break-room microwave or washing your feet in the bathroom sink were normal daily occurrences when I was in the office.

I behave well when I'm around coworkers and colleagues; but I'm glad I work from home.
