Got this one for now. Can’t turn the vent or close it, but it can hold a phone!

Bought 3 of them, one with reduction ball to fit my GPS (the car is oversees built in navigation doesn't work) and 1 for my wife's phone, the 3rd one in spare. They truly work great in difficult conditions.

Panavice mounts are solid. I've used them with Panavice phone mounts and currently Quad lock mag mounts.

I've had it happen too. During the summer it stays cool though.

That's what I use. Very happy with it.

I have a cheap suction cup one that has worked very well. Got it at a truck stop. Couldn't tell you the name of it. But I made sure the surface was clean and then stuck it on there. Holds my phone and hasn't come off yet.

Right under the drivers right air vent.
Handles all the bumps and jumps any grocery store can throw at it. The phone only detaches when I intentionally displace it. And we have roads up here that couldn’t pass for Fallujah.

I was able to line up 2 holes and had to drill 2. Used a step bit and it cut pretty easily

Another vote for OffRoam. No vibration, easy peasy.

I later installed a new head unit so needing a phone mount became obsolete and it's just sitting in my center console collecting dust.

Thanks @Tripleconpanna and @JMGmanAZ While planning and inquiring has anyone found a USB-c outlet that mounts nicely. In a perfect world 3-4 USB-c outlets would be very nice.

I have used MOB armor in both work vehicles and my personal. My phone does not shake and has never fallen hopping curbs in an f350 or bombing it through the Mojave desert.

I like a more recessed look myself.
At the end of the day it’s about preference and individual intent I guess

I believe I recall seeing something like that in someone's build thread or the 2.5 Gen what did you do today thread, but it's been a little while...

If you want something inexpensive that just works, I mounted this right above the 2WD/4WD dial and it’s been rock solid for 4 months now.

So I see you may have the same head unit as myself. How did you like the Rago? Does it hold the phone up out of the way? I have a work phone and a personal and I need a way to put them both up. I do not want to block the Dasaita or the Air vent.

I run a phone and scan gauge iii off of mine (one short and one long arm), and I don't have any issues... the SCiii is further right but canted back toward my view w/the bottom sitting at the top of the head unit displah and my phone sits to the far left on a short arm just at about the same level somewhat between the vent and head unit. I have good views of the display and line of sight over the top of the dash toward the passenger side!!! Lots of flexibility...

I've been using the Offroam mount attached to the lower half of the vent that is to the right of the steering wheel. Works great and the phone does not block much of the airflow as long as the vent is aimed somewhat upward. That said, the top part of the phone does sometimes get cold when the AC is on (not a big deal) No issues with phone temps when the heat is on either, although I am never running max heat as outside temps where I am in California are not really that cold.

Note that with this mount installed the vent louvers themselves can still be adjusted, but the vent ring cannot rotate. But like I said, hasn't been an issue for me.
