I have a 2025 Limited and right away I noticed that once the vehicle is off, you can't do anything with the power folding mirror switch. It won't respond to any setting... In, out, or automatic. I have to turn the truck back on to get it to work.

Am I just stuck with this as intended bad design now or is this a glitch? My 2012 Limited Tundra could always fold the mirrors in or out with the truck off.

I don't know if I've ever tried using the button while the engine was off. Figured it would work the same as windows, whereas it would operate for a short time until you open the door. I do know you can change the behavior of when they auto fold. I have mine fold when I turn the engine off, versus when the truck is locked. I think I used Carista to change that?

Yeah I don't like automatic folding because I feel that will wear out the motors faster.

Mine fold in when locked with fob, if I manually lock with door switch they don't fold in. I've never tried it with truck off. Works fine as it is for me. You can turn them on or off in settings.

So you're really wanting them to be on manual so you can occasionally fold on demand, though I imagine a few times you've forgotten to do so before the truck was shut off. If I remember I'll set mine to manual until after I shut it off tonight.

Yeah exactly. The 2012 you could push/click the mirror button for in or out any time the truck was completely off.

As others have stated, maybe just have the auto feature turned off?
    It's in your manual..

But that wouldn't fix your wanting to fold them with the truck off..:(

I used that button on my 2007 so much over 16 years the image was completely gone.

My 2023 does the same thing. When manually folded out, they will not fold after ignition off. I don’t have Carista to test, but wondering if you could have it manually out, then switch to automatic after engine off, and would a FOB lock fold them in?

I do have Carista, what do you suggest I change settings on there before trying that scenario?

You can also push the start button once to power on mirrors and close then hit the start button twice

Assuming their site is right, in the Mirrors section of Carista is the below. I believe "With door locks" is the default setting, so if you haven't changed anything it should already be that way. I have mine set to "With ignition". If yours is default, then try having it set to manual out when you turn the ignition off, then change the switch setting to auto. That might let them fold when locking with the FOB.
    • Auto fold side-view mirrors (req. power folding mirrors)
      With ignition

      With door locks

      Disabled
