IMG_3477.png I paid for a 3 month subscription to Carista today. I had another communication failure notification at startup tonight. I took the truck in a few weeks ago about many happening a few weeks ago and they told me they couldn’t find anything. While in there, I went through all the optional items and I couldn’t find anything for the fake V8 sound. I wanted to hear it as I didn’t think it was enabled on my truck. A previous owner changed some on my truck as the seat belt dingers do not go off. I saw those options but saw on none of the categories all the way through for the fake V8 sound. Hmmmmm

    what did I miss?

Also, I found 3 faults in my ecu’s while doing a diagnostics test. I believe B232187 is for the communication module failure errors. I’m gonna call them in the morning to see what they see in their system.

Here is a screen shot of the faults. I can’t remember what ECU the top two are, but it was something that could be the entertainment system. When I did tap to search, AI description said stuff about the infotainment communications.

You need the JBL system for the sound, do you have that?

Maybe previous owner 'disabled' toyo-snooping 'feature'...if that's the case, I'd be glad he did. Don't need toyota collecting personal data about me.

If you have JBL then you have it….it might be called noise cancellation or something like that. Not totally sure….

They looked in their system and saw information. Whether or not they saw these codes, I don’t know. But they will answer to what saw with Carista. I have a 84 month/125K mine bumper to bumper and they WILL fix this. I don’t care if they have to pick and choose what part at a time to figure it out. lol

I will look for that tomorrow. Thanks for the lead. I really don’t recall that category and thought I looked at every one of them.

    A Question.....
    WHY!!!?
The Tundra has a V8 so why would you need to fake it?

    2 things:
    1. Look at the section you're in.
    2. It's not faking V8 sounds. It's "enhancing" sounds from the TTV6 in the truck.

I have a 23 limited double cab with JBL system that does NOT have active noise cancellation or engine sound enhancement options. My son has a 23 limited crewmax with JBL that does have those options (of which we disabled engine sound enhancement as it gets annoying when towing). Apparently Crewmax cab JBL configurations only have it?

It should be in any JBL truck from my understanding. Odd that yours doesn't have it.

It also should turn itself off when in tow/haul mode, so it shouldn't be annoying at that time.

Unless those are new rules for the 2025 model year.

Tell it to ford. They started it for ttV6 trucks as far as I know.

My truck has it, and it's not awful, but it's not necessary either.

Scroll to the top of the page. You are in the 3rd gen section for 2022+ trucks. Tundras don't have V8s anymore.

    Aaaah...
I remember reading something about this recently.
Aren't they going with the twin turbo now?

My sons have it in both theirs, one has the 23 limited crewmax and other son has a 25 Sequoia that both have the "fake engine sound". My 23 limited double cab JBL does not. I have searched up and down with scantool (that I used to disable it on theirs... a Snap On Solus that has access to Toyota's Cbest customize features) my double cab doesn't even give the option. Granted a Limited double cab is sort of a unicorn??

Yes. A mic under the hood records the sound, it's processed and comes from the speakers.
    You're trolling, right?
The V8 was dropped in the Tundra and Sequoia for the 2022 and newer models. There hasn't been a V8 Tundra for 4 model years.

    Not at all.
Dont want a new truck so I really haven't been paying attention.
My 2016 only has around 21k if I remember correctly.
And I'm in the process of getting the Magnuson installed.
Should get it back in a week or so.
If Toyota can get the same HP numbers out of the V6 with Turbos I'd be fine with it.
The only possible drawback I can think of is excessive engine wear trying to do the same workload as the big V8.
On the plus side it's a Toyota and if anyone can make a V6 that can deal with the same workload of a V8 it'll be Toyota.

IMG_3484.png IMG_3486.png IMG_3488.png IMG_3484.png I used the Veepeak and Carista tonight and went into preferences again. It takes a while to interface that option, and there is no chassis & engine option. Here are the options I have. At the bottom is other and I show what is in other.

Why do I not have this option? I know most dislike it, but I want to hear what exactly it is. I am taking my truck in in the morning for the communication failure. What do I need to say to the service manager? My ECU needs to be flashed with the proper programming?

How does one 'disable' the toyo-snooping 'feature'. I know someone who may be interested! :anonymous:

Sorry Sir. I dont know how, but when I read what OP posted:
...I thought previous owner deleted toyota data-harvesting 'feature' somehow.

Are you sure you have the JBL premium sound system? Do your speaker grills on your door have JBL, or JBL on the head unit... or JBL printed anywhere in the truck?
