My daughter is 8 and I've yet to see more than some sassiness. Is there a pause button to all this you guys are experiencing?

Luckily we don't have that kind of fuckery yet. But that doesn't mean it isn't coming.

 

There's a hold on button. And there's a real need to be real involved in building a healthy relationship based in trust and honesty button. IMHO what we can do as parents is teach them everything we can so that when they start making stupid decisions, maybe just maybe some of those lessons will kick in. Kinda like how eagles push their eaglets out of the nest. They either fly. Or don't.

We'll have two girls once number two arrives. I'm pretty excited to be honest. One of each would be sweet, but I love my daughter and I'm excited to see her as a big sister.

Yeah none of that has worked in my favor thus far.

 

So I have a problem. We have an 8 yo cat that has recently started peeing outside of the litter box. She's standing in her box but her pee is just going right out of it. Because how she's standing in it. For now I've put her litter box inside a bigger Rubbermaid tub so her pee isn't going on the floor but I'm open to any and all suggestions to help change this. Training cats isn't my forte.

 

Keep at it. Everyone I know says the same thing with raising teen girls. And their relationships do get testy with mothers. But just keep showing up.

 

All I do is show up. I have to send her to my sister or I'm going to end up in jail because of this stupid little boy. So she will ha help my sister with babysitting and help her around the her small farm for the summer. Then I'll be bringing her ass home in time to go back to school. Good help me she better graduate.

 

I don't have much help for you. Be thankful she is at least peeing in the general vicinity of the litter box.
Keeping the litter box clean -ish? Some cats can be really picky and won't go in if it's not clean enough for them.

Besides your Rubbermaid tub, another temporary fix; puppy training pads.
If you can "catch" her at the edge, repositioning and mild verbal correction might help. Then there's the water squirt bottle treatment. Probably not the best in this case since she IS at the litter box and probably thinks all is fine.

We had a male that got kidney disease later in his life. Was fully box trained prior and never an issue, but once he started having kidney problems he'd go wherever he happened to be.
He's since passed, but his older male buddy is now up in years and can make it to the box to pee, but rarely to poop. Currently dealing with that.

One does not train cats, cats train their humans.

 

Because of this, I have always used cover litter boxes and clean the poop out daily.

Some cats are super picky.... Unfortunately.

I don't care much for cats, but I'd rather clean the inside of a cat box than have them pissing on the floor and walls.

We have a covered box already. The door is removed because she (and her sister who has since passed from feline leukemia) wouldn't go inside the box if the door was on when they were little. The box gets cleaned daily and litter changed out weekly. Has been this routine since we've had them. But as mentioned above, training cats isn't really a thing. Lastly I'll say that I'm also not a fan of cats for this reason. My wife brought them home one day and I wasn't consulted so at this point I'm just trying to mitigate it. And waiting.
