And all of these fantasy numbers and payload calculations are completely ignoring the RAWR. Some of your “available” payload is actually front axle margin. You can’t put all 2k# in the bed and be under your RAWR. Won’t make the truck explode immediately, but those bearings and leafs are gonna take a beating. Not to mention the actual bed and frame. Look, OP, you do you. It’s fun to think about and fun to watch your progress on here no doubt. But don’t ignore reality in the process. Be safe out there

I saw a similar setup with a Tundra as a tow vehicle. Actually it looked a lot less hokey than I expected. They had nice diamond plate tool boxes along the sides of the camper and folding steps to gain access. A lot better option in my book.

I had a similar setup with a smaller camper and thought it was sketchy as hell, and that was with sway bars, air bags, gearing, supercharger, brakes, etc. The ultimate fix was buying a semi and unleashing the autism :D

Damn, how is yours so light? I have the same configuration. DC 4x4 with a cap. Granted I’ve got steel skids and steel rear bumper. I have some tools in the truck. With a half a tank and me in it I was at 6,560!

Agreed, 6050 I could see removing all the shit, 5060 sounds wrong. My Tundra double cab with two people, dog, and the supercharger being the only real weight increase weighed in at 5900 lbs a few weeks ago leaving the dump.

These trucks are 6k unloaded, even double cab SR5s. There's no way that 5060 isn't actually 6060...

Just replace them with helium balloons and zip ties.

You could also remove quarter panels and fenders like the LT guys, but just don't put the wide body kit on.

Something something modern problems modern solutions

It's really too bad 86'd user Tundra Family from AZ isn't around to support this. I'm sure he would've given his full support, and maybe even donated a few ratchet straps for good measure.

    None at this point.
Dont know what it is but there's just something I like about campers.
Been this way since I was a kid.
Even tents fascinated me to a lesser extent.

The James Baroud pop up tent.

You could hang meat in the thing!!!

Of course now we have the Lance camper so this doesnt get used much anymore.

Were going to try and avoid the interstate, at least on the way north. Driving the entire length of the blue ridge parkway and the golden road in Maine is on the to do list.

She like road trips, don't know if she'll like the camper yet. She probably won't drive it.

New used shoes for the truck. The toyos were bald and rainy season started last week.

    20250602_180446.jpg

Started surgery. Not looking good. But i think there's enough meat left to scab it back together for the trip. Last thing i want to do is have it fall apart driving through New Jersey.

Isn't that only on the double cab trucks with 6.5' beds? Pretty sure the single cabs don't have that problem.
