Hey @FiatRunner I saw this at Caffeine & Octane today and thought about you. Snapped some pics, but sharing in case others find it interesting. I know, it's a Triumph, and not Italian, your Fiat is sexier, but ....

A Fiat is sexier? Not by a long shot! Thanks for posting this. It reminds me of my TR-4.

Thanks for sharing! Those are really neat, I especially love how long they are considering how narrow they are as well. I looked at a handful of Triumphs before I got my Fiat, and I liked them a lot. Most of the reason I decided on the Fiat was cost- decent TR4s or TR250s sell for a lot more than decent 124s. I also like disc brakes too.

That actually changes how it sounds as well. The internal tuning and power/output to the speakers.

I have mine set to iM as it sounds best to me in the access cab. Then tune the bass/mids/treble from there.

I’m having a hard time believing someone doesn’t have a harness that plugs into the connector on the back for amplified systems, JBL or otherwise, and just gives you three low-level outs (front/rear/sub). I’d need to pull an EWD to see how they’re managing the channel transfer …. maybe the channels are managed inside the amp, and they’re doing two pairs from the head unit back to the amp, one pair for left & right, and the other pair used as a Tx/Rx (transmit/receive) channel, to tell the amp what signals are what? Would be convoluted if that’s true.

In Washington state for vacation. Spent a day in Seattle, spent another day in Mt. Ranier, going to be camping for the next 4 in Olympic Natl. park. FGTs and other Toyota products are everywhere around here. My buddy is trying to get a FGT or FG Tacoma and there’s possibility that I’ll be buying one around here and roadtripping it back home.

Great pics. Good luck on the FGT up there. They run 150-200% of normal market value it seems.

Yeah, they’re definitely more. My buddy is willing to pay for one that’s rust free though, and he wants a manual transmission and 4WD, so he knows he’s gonna pay a premium.

System is in. Wow. Poundtown for sure. Adjusting gains and setting EQ. Sounds great so far. Gotta button up the install now. The amp went power protect when I plugged it back into the car. Only getting 2.5v to the power input of the amp. Spoiler alert, It was terminal corrosion. Spent 20 minutes brushing and soaking in baking soda. Got it spotless, amp powered right up.

That’s a good point. I was looking at Balsa wood lumbar and that’s too expensive and doesn’t hold up to wet weather.

I guess in case some people think they’re different. He should’ve done the test on rough asphalt though for comparison.

The use of 4wd is interesting for slightly better traction getting up them. I think a ramp using a steel grate like a wheel chock would be ideal to keep the ramp from moving.

Hey Bill, I remember you mentioned possibly buying a new Frontier recently.
As it happens, I ran into two old friends at that car/truck meet, that I posted a few pics from this weekend. Hadn't seen either in 3+ years. Anyways, one of em drove his a new Frontier, so I asked em about it. He said he doesn't much care for it, apart from the highway mileage, and was planning to sell it.

I picked up a set of these at a garage sale for cheap, IIRC it was like $20 or something: https://offerup.com/item/detail/784f7e2b-0598-3d06-be21-c0f477c67703

Same brand, same SKU. Supposedly made in USA. I got them after we bought the new 2020 Highlander to help with oil changes once our free maintenance window was up. That passed at the oil change before last, but they did a full syn change @ dealer for $35 during a recall service a couple months back, so I still haven't gotten around to it. And now I've got two more recalls on the damn thing, one for the lower front valance and another for a problem with the passenger airbag not deploying.

Time to skip to Captain Jack, and jump to that 1m09s mark when the guitars kick in.

Nothing like songs talking about shooting heroin and masturbating.

RE: Heroin, knew I wasn't nuts. The "little push, and you'll be smilin'" was suggestive.

    From Genius.com -

“Captain Jack” was the name of a heroin dealer who served drugs to suburban teenagers in Oyster Bay, Long Island. Joel intends to juxtapose the socioeconomic disparity between the dealer and the customers referenced in the song. The teenagers would leave the safety and comfort of the suburbs to go cop drugs from this heroin dealer, who dwelled in low-income housing projects. Joel explains this point while addressing the confusion his song inspired:

What’s so horrible about an affluent young white teenager’s life that he’s got to shoot heroin? It’s really a song about what I consider to be a pathetic loser kind of lifestyle. I’ve been accused of, ‘Oh, this song promotes drug use and masturbation.’ No, no, no. Listen to the song. This guy is a loser.
