What is everyone running? Soft tops? Tonneau covers? Anyone running diamondbacks? Good spot to find form fitting box toppers for 06 1GT? Anyone have a gfc? Pretty sure I found my truck but thinking about things. Haha let me know your experiences/tips/trucks if you have some! Cheers

I had a Softopper. It was awesome. But I knew it would eventually get ruined and I thought a hardtop would be warmer for camping. So now I have a Jason.

Have you checked out this thread? 1st gen Tundra Topper Thread.

I found a junkyard topper on a wrecked AC Tundra. If I had to do over again...I would have waited for something else. It's exactly the topper I wanted, but had a broken rear window and because of that and sitting in the junkyard for a few years, it needed a lot of work. It was $300 and I ended up putting at least that much into it again getting it how I wanted it, plus all my time. I'm happy with it now, but I could have paid $300 (or $600) for something that didn't need any work. So...take your time and find something good. There's a ton of them out there that aren't worth it, but good deals on good toppers come up regularly if you pay close attention and are willing to travel a couple hours.

Also good to know what you'll eventually want. For example I need a roof rack. A used topper with a roof rack might only run $50-$100 more than one without. But if you buy one without and decide to add one, if you go with Yakima or Thule, you're looking at another $5-700. Which is what I did...Better to find a used topper with a rack already.

(I like to think that dude is checking out my Tundra. More likely he's looking at the camper I was on my way home from buying)

I had a soft top, loved it for being able to take it down and put it back up whenever I wanted with relative ease

Now I have a V1 GFC with updated panels and that’s pretty fun

Facebook marketplace is great for finding used toppers in my area. Also if you’re looking for a GFC, join the GFC forum and keep an eye on the marketplace section

I have a leer mid-rise topper and just got an access tonneau cover. Topper is nice some times. I use it to cover and secure my stuff in winter. Summer I only use it when camping.
So far the tonneau cover is good for hiding some things in the bed. I don’t think I would buy one but since I got it for free I’ll hang on to it.

I really like my truck without the topper. When I first bought it, without topper, it was fun driving around. I always have toppers on my trucks. But man visibility is so much better without, and being able to just throw stuff in the back, all the way up against the back of the cab, is really nice.

But my lifestyle and how I use my truck pretty much requires a topper. I could get way with a tonneau but it'd be limiting, for what I do. The only other Tundra I looked at was an AC flatbed. I like flatbeds almost more than trucks with open beds. But for my uses, a flatbed is even more useless. I always have stuff back there. I really like to sleep back there. Of course if I didn't have a truck, and a truck with a topper, I would never have gotten into the habit of carrying so much stuff around with me. Still.

Flatbeds and open beds (even with a tonneau) look great to me. But would be a pain.
