Hey, all. I'm considering buying this 04 DC 4x4. There are extensive photos/videos below.

    Important elements:
    - 198K miles
    - Timing belt/water pump/LBJ's done at 180k
    - Driveshaft/support bearing rebuilt/rebalanced in 2024
    - Full synthetic oil every 5-7K miles

The price is $12k. Does this seem like a reasonable ask?

Frame is a 8/10 in my book. Obviously some cosmetic issues. Looks like a fair deal to me, but I'm not the only voice here. Clearly doesn't have VSC which is a plus, no little brake keg, it's a normal booster.

Looks like the truck was probably living near the coast based on the minor surface rust. A few spots to treat there but nothing serious.

Take a look at Bring a Trailer... they've had several 1st Gens come up for sale recently, and that should give you a decent idea of what folks are willing to spend on them right now and what sellers are actually walking away with

Appears to have been in Cali for much of it's life according to numerous other links on this truck. From the extra pics at Craigslist, wouldn't have a problem considering a little dickering. At $13K and what I'm seeing, I can put $7K into it and know it'll last as longer if not longer than a newer $60K.

Beginning to wonder if you're simply a used car salesman considering all the separate threads you've started :D

Out of curiosity, what things would you do to it to account for 7K? and I'm not a salesman- just trying to get expert opinions to make sure I don't buy a lemon :)

Looks decent overall. Got to remember these are 20 years old (hence setting aside money). The one place I would want to look at closer is this part of the frame. Hard to tell what's happening there. You would of course inspect the inside of the frame too.

Looks like the steering rack is weeping a little bit, but probably not enough to warrant replacement.
Do the newer trucks have a different thermostat housing? Compared to my truck it looks like this hose is about to fall off (my truck with the hose removed for comparison)
