I really don't want another Tundra. Gonna be harder and harder to find one in good shape with a decent frame. A GX is a little more appealing. I'm also not sure I want another ~20 year old vehicle. I'm not going to have the time to build and repair another old vehicle and even if I find one with low mileage(which isn't necessary better) it's still going to need work. Ravioli is also showing its age so I'd be looking at 3 old vehicles if I bought a GX. We both work from home and so paying for insurance on a 3rd vehicle is not smart.

All this to say, I'm going to give it some time and see how things go but I'm concerned that the Tundra just isn't going to work for hauling a kid. Even when she grows out of rear facing car seat, it's still not comfortable back there. Add a dog and it's pretty much miserable. Growing up my dad always had Mazda pickups with the fold down jump seats. It really sucked riding back there unless it was a short trip. The Tundra seat isn't much better.

I do like this idea a lot. Maybe if I come across some good 2x6’s I’ll do something like that.

Third vehicle is the answer. It's not fiscally sound to ever sell a 1GT

Same boat. Wife drives a gx460 and it's a great family hauler, but we're even considering going bigger. I'm not really ready to buy one yet, but buying a 2G crewmax or getting a DC. Luckily my wife and I aren't tall so the space is doable, but the rear facing car seat in the middle is not ideal.

    Bigger family or vehicle?
I’ve talked with Erik about this, even the best gen DC isn’t amazing for rear facing child seats. But our 4runner has been a great goblin hauler and thats mainly what they ride in unless we’re going camping. But now both of them are in booster seats so it’s even easier to deal with.

Definitely more kids, but also her friend just got a new Tahoe and she's been gawking over it since. We have a 4mo old so I'm thinking the move to a DC pretty sensible with more kids in the future. But...if I get another crewmax and just leave it the hell alone I can get a little more rowdy with the AC... haha

I said it before, third vehicle is the right choice. Never sell the AC.

There's another one that if you ride the highway up a little further north it's a gravel road with some nasty washboard in it. Pretty fun, but I have to put it in 4wd just to get speed going out of the corners cause the dips are so big haha.

Sorry not testing pressure, trying to find a service plug to run the fuel pump from the engine bay, if it exists.

Not really fiscally sound to have a 3rd vehicle either. We drive less than 10k miles/year.
GX isn't big enough? What year is yours? They really drop in price once they hit 100k miles. Looks like the interiors get a lot nicer around 2022.

I'd be fine with a 4Runner too. But they seem to hold their value even more than GX's. Almost makes more sense to buy a new one instead of used.

2021. We had a stroller bassinet combo that ate the whole trunk up. Also considering something that has more space behind the third row. 22+ is nice but wasn’t worth the extra money. We just got the beat sonic adapter for Apple CarPlay on the factory screen and saved like 10k.

Isn't the GX460/470 just a Lexus sequoia? Those things are huge inside.

The GX are very very solid vehicles. I love them, same with the last gen Land Cruisers. They are beyond comfortable and no matter how many miles they have they still feel like they are fresh off of the showroom floor.

I have driven in hundreds of them from low miles to over 200,000 miles and its always the same experience. I'd love to have one if they weren't so expensive.

You say that, but it's an investment if you keep it rust free. Plus adventures... Side quests, if you will.

No. It's a rebadged Land Cruiser Prado and more like a 4Runner.

Not a need, but it’d be nice for the extra space. I can literally build this GX for the delta to get into the LX haha.

They say the Sequoia is the poor man's Land Cruiser.
I would rock a 5.7L Sequoia. But it would probably suck on tight trails harder than my AC. Which honestly doesn't suck on tight trails, so much as I gotta excercise patience.

Honestly that size rig is very doable. Just way more pinstriping. I just don’t love that the 5.7 sequoias are IRS.

The newest gen Sequoia sacrificed a lot of the rear interior leg room for whatever reason. It's not anywhere as spacious as the previous generations.
