Having an issue with my 2008 Tundra. After a rainstorm two weeks ago I attempted to turn my wipers off and the control arm wouldn't do anything. Diagnosed that it was a result of a blown 20A "Washer" fuse in the interior fuse box. Replaced the fuse and it worked well for a few days. Today while driving it (sunny day) the wipers randomly decided to start again and wouldn't stop. Attempted to change the fuse again but it blew immediately. I bought a pre-owned OEM wiper control arm and tried to replace it but still the same issue, blew another fuse. Any ideas?

I had the windshield washer turn on and stay on on my 2000 Tundra. It turned out that the wire going to the pump always had 12v going to it and the control arm just grounded the motor to turn it on. A rock had found its way to the harness and shorted the wire going to the control lever. Before I found the problem I either unplugged the motor or pulled the fuse. The rock also damaged the wire that supplied the power to the pump. It was just a matter of time before it was going to short out and blow the fuse.

I would get a copy of the wiring diagram and see the route the power takes to get to the wiper motor. You could also just unplug the wiper motor and try a new fuse. If it blows then you have a wiring issue before the motor. Mice love to eat wires so you could find one damaged the wire and now it's rubbing on bare metal.

Thanks. I do have intermittent wipers. It looks like it could be something with the washer motor or AJ9 which I believe is the main wiring harness? Sorry I'm new to electrical diagrams.

So an update I unplugged the washer motor and replaced the fuse and it looks like the washer motor or something along that line is my problem. Any way to test to see if its the wiring that is bad or the washer pump itself?

You could use a couple jumper wires from a 12 volt battery to the washer motor to see if it will spin.
If you are blowing a fuse immediately like that it is usually a hot wire shorted to ground. Could be the washer motor is shorted out internally.

With the washer connector A22 unplugged, check pin 2 (violet wire) of the connector with your multi meter and make sure it isn't grounded.
It should only be grounded when the washer switch is activated.
