Well said.... I know some people who are forever grateful for their experiences at the VA. I am not one of them and I seem to be on the more common side. Congratulations on the change and I pray you find answers/relief soon!

If I wanted to be President one of my leading campaign slogans would be to make Congress have the same healthcare as our military. Pretty sure that would solve a lot of problems almost overnight.

Meh, many European countries have different views on what's lewd. We're kinda stuck in the mindset that nipples of women are lewd but men aren't... Same with drinking alcohol. Kids as young as 12 can drink overseas in places and yet we have a higher number of alcoholics here then those places. Is there a correlation to how our society makes blanket views on what's appropriate and what's not driving problem? Me thinks so.

 

Not a fan of how Europe runs. If I want the "slipping towards socialism" version of Western Culture I'll move there. I suggest the same to any trying to turn the USA into what other countries already are.

The freedoms and prosperity here can't be found anywhere else, but all the stuff people claim is better is available everywhere else. Go where they already have it if that's what you want instead of trying to turn the last hope for freedom into what already exists elsewhere.

I'm in the U.S.; but okay, equivalencies.
Ancient Greeks and modern Palestinians keep 6 and 10 year old boys as concubines. Palestinians consider a woman's bare ankles to be lewd, but sex with animals is okay. I could go on.

It's not really a blanket view. If you walk up to a dude in Minnesota and slap him on the chest without his consent, you'll get a misdemeanor assault charge and if that's the extent of the interaction the worst you'll get is 90 days and a $1000 fine. Do that to a woman and it's sexual assault; so if they decide to charge you with the felony it's 7 years and $14000. (Do it to a woman in Texas and it's not certain you'll get fined or go to jail; but it will cost you at least 6 months to recover from the broken jaw if she finds it misdemeanorly, or 2 to 5 years to recover from lead poisoning and/or knife wounds if she finds it felonious.)

Our culture is the best culture. Let's not let it slip.

All good points here. I wasn't saying I'm ready to go and live in any of those countries. Or that I think what some of those European countries are doing is necessarily better. But honestly I wouldn't care if women were topless at beaches and pools just like men are. And if that promotes some sexual pervert to think they can go grabbing them just because they are out, then yes that would be handled accordingly just like if some strange man or woman was trying to fondle my nips.

 

I get the sentiment, and I can crawl right up to the line with you in favor of more freedom for everyone. Except that if children are allowed in the same space as a situation for which interpretation of sexuality or other adult themes requires an adult mind; we should err on the side of insulating them from it. So, no. The all-adult pool at Cesar's Palace; a well-enforced nude beach; a strip club; some other adult-only space - - more power and empowerment to nudity...

That's where I say that if a kid sees a pair of tits consistently while growing up I don't think it would matter. I could be wrong here, I'm not going off research or anything but hiding them and implying that it's perverse to show them is what's causing it to become an issue. One of my friends growing up was from Germany. His mom would sunbath outside in their backyard topless all the time. I don't think I lusted after her or had a desire to ogle her breasts because it was normalized behavior for her, her sons, and then their friends by extension. I wouldn't say your prude, but not having that normalized for you as a child does have an impact on your view today. As it does for me who did have it normalized. So overall topless women don't get me all huffed and excited. Now a string bikini bottom is a whole different story. And even though they have the string running up through their butt crack I can still see the whole show. And yet somehow that isn't a problem because they have their bathing suit on. That's just crazy talk in my book.

 

I'd rather not rob upcoming generations of thinking boob's are special and something to be excited for. I'm sorry your childhood deprived you of that joy.

A story from my misspent yoot.

I think my great appreciation of boobs likely stems from my first sighting of them in the wild.
I was somewhere around 14.
During the heat of summer my 60-ish y/o neighbor lady liked to go topless in her back yard when she thought no one else was around.
She was very heavy and most definitely NOT hot.
I look back on it like rubbernecking at a bad accident or a train wreck. You shouldn't look, but you can't help it.
After a couple sightings I had convinced myself of a couple things:
I wasn't a bad person for looking, and "I sure hope they don't all look like that."
Thankfully, right on both counts.

Boobs are like beer.
There is no bad beer, some are just way better than others.
(Not the greatest of comparisons because there are some pretty heinous beers...but you get the idea.)

TLDR: boobs good.
