I did a Magnuson 1900. Did I like it, yes. Would I do it over again, no. It was fun when I had it, sold the truck recently, but in the back of my mind was that feeling of when is the trans going to break or when will a piston fly out of the block. Granted I didn't go WOT at every light but when I did do some WOT pulls, they weren't short. I had a 06 Silverado SS with a Magnuson also. For some reason I never had those worries with that engine. Granted replacing a 6.0 vs the 5.7 is a lot cheaper, including the trans. Plus the 6.0 can handle more HP than the 5.7, I guess that's why I never worried. Regardless even though I keep telling myself to stop putting power adders to a 6,000lb brick, I dont. But I think my tundra was the last straw. I also think I would have gotten myself in a lot of trouble had I kept the tundra, sometimes I dont know when to let off the gas. I went for 500+ HP to an OBS 98 Chevy 5.7 with 260HP, lol. But I did treat myself to a 25 Acura MDX. I am glad I did, now I have the best of both worlds, old school, easy and cheap to fix, cant go fast and a luxury SUV that rides 1000 times better than the tundra did for my long road trips. And for the first time, I also have an EV, well the wife does. Nissan Ariya, not a fan of Evs per se but they are fast. My tundra wouldn't stand a chance again the Nissan.

If you don’t have use for a heavy supercharged truck, then I would agree you’re better off buying a different vehicle to make a fast and fun machine. It’s probably good you sold it so somebody else can it enjoy it they way you could not. It doesn’t sound like you had much use for/need for a truck. For use as a truck for pulling trailers and other truck stuff the blower is fantastic for that purpose as well, not just going fast. I pull my camper all over with mine and it tows like a dream.

25k supercharged miles so far of frequent towing, occasional WOT rips and even a few trips down the 1/4 mile and I still love it and trust it to get me where I’m going. That’s with upped boost on a smaller pulley too. I think your worries may have been a bit unfounded from reading too much online. We aren’t built to comprehend other peoples problems from around the world that we would otherwise never even meet in real life the way the internet allows us to. It causes us to worry too much about unlikely scenarios.

I was recently looking into what a stock 6.0 L76 would handle for power as I briefly toyed with the idea of buying a 6.0 2500 and supercharging it for camper towing duty. Turns out the stock 6.0 engine has about the same power limits without building it as the 3URFE, and the transmission probably even less so. Dynos show you get a lot less juice from the squeeze out of them on the dyno also at the same boost levels as the 3UR. Granted, you can build both of them much cheaper on a GM truck. Also, I looked up the specs on the fastest available Nissan Ariya as well. My tundra is 6600 lbs on 35s and still faster via dragy.

Well, I did have use for it. I tow a 7000lb boat. Granted SCed or not, the tundra pulled just fine. The SCer is just an added bonus for fun. Its probably better I sold it to someone else to enjoy, I enjoyed it and it was time to move on. I dont get stuck on one platform for longer. I have had over 40+ vehicles, some of which have either been Turbo, SCed, NOS and Heads and Cam.

My readings are from here, so not unfounded. Lets no make it seem like the addition of a SCer doesn't bring on issues. I had them just like others. So when you say we aren't built to comprehend peoples problems, yes we are. I had small issues, but issues non the less, so worrying about an expensive engine or trans is justified. It's not like I can shoot over to my corner shop and ask them to rebuild the 5.7 or the 6 speed on the tundra. Its harder to find a reputable trans builder or engine builder when it come to the 5.7 vs the LS.

As for the power limits of the 6.0, plenty of people have pushed the stock internals a bit pass 700HP. You are correct that you get less on the dyno, but we all know dyno numbers dont tell the whole story. My 06 Silverado SS with a undersized Magnuson MP112, not even a MP122, let alone a 1900, on a shit mail order tune, ran a 9.2 in the 1/8. I did eventually get it down to 8.4-8.6 after a retune, that's all. No pulley, no LTH, no injectors, no 1900 or 2650, etc. Not bad for a 6.0 w/345HP 380TQ.
As for your brief idea of a 2500 6.0 SC for towing, depending on what you tow, let's not kid ourselves, a 2500 will tow better. It won't be as fun a the tundra since it's a 2500 vs 1500, but still fun non the less. I picked up my new to me OBS with a 2500 Cummins, obviously a diesel, but weight wise I was pushing around the same weight as my boat. No comparison towing 7k with a 1500 vs a 2500, from a stability point.

As for the wife's Nissan, it will have beat my tundra hands down. Probably not yours since you had more stuff done to it, but it's still a fun and fast SUV that will surprise some people.

I miss a lot of my vehicles after I sell them. 06 Silverado SS SC, 2 07 Trailblazers SS, 1 w/Heads and cam, 1 w/NOS, 86 Grand National, most recent my SC tundra, but life goes on and some of us move on to other vehicles. Some not necessarily as good as the last but others way better. Who knows, after towing with a cummins, older style, I might give a Dodge 2500 a go. Hands down that thing was a beast at pulling my truck back home.

It’s cool if you wanted to try something else and move on, I get that. Just about every vehicle ever produced has “small issues”. How serious were the issues you had? I think it’s all how they’re treated, driven and maintained. Upon a fresh install there may be a couple quirks to figure out as with many modifications. You cant let that spoil the experience for you.

I’m just saying I disagree with some of your assessments of the platform. As far as towing, you do live in notoriously flat FL which is essentially hill free. Floridas tallest peak is 345’ so you likely never got to see the true difference in towing SC’d vs non SC’d on flat ground that those with hilly terrain get to experience. It doesn’t even come into play and start making boost until you start hitting some hills. Anyway, the whole thing that’s appealing about a supercharged tundra is it can do truck things like pull a trailer, haul loads in the bed and offroad while still being pretty quick and enjoyable to own and drive. It’s also a lot easier to park and maneuver than an HD. I could go the SC 2500 or diesel route which could lend itself to better towing stability, but like you said it will not be as quick or fun and I’m opening the door to other more prevalent issues seen on the domestics. I’m talking electronics issues and smaller component failures that nickel and dime you or keep you returning to the service department. That’s why most of us drive tundras. A SC tundra blends all of these things together very well.

I am always trying something new, then move on. Like I said, I have been through 40+ vehicles in the last 34 years. Shortest vehicle owned was a 08 Tundra TRD, 11 months. Sold it and got my first Trailblazer SS, NOS on that one. As for my issues, well I wasn't too pleased with the fact that after the SC install, I started seeing small shavings in my oil filter. Oil changes every 5k since I bought it new. SC went on at 40k I believe. Could it have been normal, maybe, maybe not. But it was still in the back of my mind if the SC caused it or not. On the stock Magnuson, I had to upgrade to bigger injectors and FP, injectors were maxed out. Even after, I wasn't feeling my AFRs, kinda bouncing to much for my liking but apparently the Toyota ECM isn't as tunable as others, at least that's what I have gathered, could be wrong. I did do a trans cooler and did a valve body update myself since I wanted to try and alleviate know trans issues. Also, dont ask me why, but I just didn't trust the tundra anymore for long out of state trips. Sounds weird but I just didn't. This was after I installed the upgraded FP and injectors.

As for opening the door to issues on domestics, I agree. Most, if not all, modern vehicles will not stand the test of time. Newest Chevy I have owned was a 08 Tahoes. Didn't like it, had its problems. To me, Chevy was good before they went bankrupt. Square body and OBS are still kicking till today. Less tech=less issues, period. My OBS has 3 modules and my 25 MDX has around 25, insane. I also live in Fl and have never experienced towing in mountains or higher elevation. But just regular towing, like for me to tow my boat to the ramp and back, the SC made no difference. Yeah, maybe if I had to get in to it, to cross faster ok, but for overall towing, its wasn't a big deal for me. I actually always wanted a SCed tundra since I got my first one in 08, 4 tundras later, I had the chance to do it, so I did. I did it, it was fun, but for the money and excitement factor, I wouldn't do it again. You have to try out things in life to see if it's worth it to you or not.

For now I am on the OBS bandwagon. Liking the easy of maintenance and being able to replace a stater or alt, in 30 mins vs 4 hours, lol. Granted I never had a tundra long enough to change one of those out, but did dread it if I had to. Still really like the tundra platform and who know, maybe some day when I get bored of the OBS, I will jump back into my 5th one. Might even try a 3rd gen, even as much as I hate the route Toyota took with them. But it looks like Toyota is going the same route on all Toyota, it's as shame if you ask me. It was actually one of the reasons I didn't buy a Lexus RX. No more V6, only a 4 cylinder. MDX is still a V6 and the SH-AWD is so much fun.

If I had to guess it has to do with all the high end vehicles waiting for upgrades that are WAY more expensive than my Truck.

I'm hoping they're just being safe as far as the time frame goes.
But yeah that does seem a bit weird, sure would have been better to have an appointment scheduled.
