I am a veteran also, retired from the military and as a LEO (recently retired). In both careers I wore uniforms, both had very different decorations, tabs and insignia, if it were a hill to die on then I'd push this issue, but it's not. The actual display and placement of the US flag and the etiquette that goes with its display bothers me when I see another flag over the Stars and Stripes but to me it's not less American to have "identifiers" on the US flag, I understand it is codified in law (as it is written it is a violation), and the Spirit of the law (the laws intent) appears to offer latitude with this issue, to me those flags say, " I am an American Police Officer or an American Firefighter", I don't see it as a fight anyone could ever win by attempting to stop that. Personally, I don't have anything on my vehicles or house that would identify me as a current or former member of anything, my tats are covered and those would certainly I.D. me as belonging to a unit or two... but I have the tats for me, nobody else. I also respect the pride in professional unit affiliation and when I see those flags with blue line or red line I see someone who is proud of their professional affiliation, the last thing I think of is the legality of it.
There are houses flying other countries flags all over place, I don't agree with it but that's part of having freedoms and choices in our country.

The backwards meaning of the US flag on uniforms has to do with the flags canton which is the blue field that contains 50 stars representing the 50 states. Custom dictates the Canton must be placed at the front to show honor and respect to those 50 states.

We, as a country have slowly but surely fallen away from tradition, I think it's intentional and wish it weren't happening, also we have fallen into the practice of "accommodation" and drifted from "assimilation" to our customs and way of life.
There's plenty of things we all probably have issue with, but the fact remains we are the last Bastion of freedom and still have a country worth fighting for.

Yes... because in MN, she can now be topless in a public place :D

So, I'd like to take an opportunity here to thank the LE officer in MN who arrested some poor soul for lewd behavior (going topless), which ultimately ended up being heard in the MN State Supreme Court.

Without that arrest, MN girls would feel compelled to retain (at a minimum) a thin layer of clothing material between their breats and prying eyes when parading around in a public place.

Now, thanks to a wonderful officer (with some incredible foresight) we can all only hope that the remaining 49 states will soon follow!!!

I think your'e picking the wrong thing to obsess over here. In the first place it is NOT in violation of any US Code. It is NOT the American Flag. It is a similar rendition of the American flag, but the different color scheme makes it something other than our flag. It doesn't have to be taken down every night, or illuminated if flown at night. It's not saluted by any service. We don't pledge allegiance to it.

Look, I'm a vet, too, shed blood in combat for your right to think what you want. But you're getting no agreement or consolation from me. You're simply wrong.

I suggest OP moves to Canada where explicit forms of patriotism and support for LEO, military etc is very subdued. If he doesn't like the 1st Amendment, we don't even have an uninfringible right to freedom of speech here. In fact, we have a section in our Charter of Alleged Rights and Freedoms that allows the government to overide them at will.

Must be nice to have this being a big enough issue in his life to complain about.

No, we all read everything you posted...
You don't need to keep repeating it.

So what is it with you?
Is it an OCD issue, or do you simply search for things to be offended about?

Do you try to pull over people for speeding?
Maybe chastise a jaywalker now and then?

    These are serious questions...

    I found your post humorous.
As you can see, some members lack a sense of humor.
I learned that a while back as well.

There is even a member who wants the entire forum to censor their posts in a particular thread so he/she can cruise the forum while at work.
They want everyone to limit their free expression so they can surf the web on the clock..:eek2:
    It's a damn shame...:censored:

Still waiting for the @gdisarray to tell us what caused his mental breakdown over something so trivial..

If her post was meant as a joke, I missed it. Lots of people seriously tell others to leave the forum for all kinds of stuff.

As for the "censoring" posts in a certain thread, that's not my doing. That's forum rules. I just thanked the mods when they started to enforce it.
