Does anyone know why my AC compressor clutch spin stop spin stop spin stop and so on when the AC is on? I have a 2014 Tundra Platinum and I've already changed the relay because of the blinking AC light but that didn't fix the problem. I also bought a new Denso AC compressor but didn't install it yet. Just want to see if it's anything else causing this spin stop problem before i replace the compressor. The clutch also doesn't go in when the AC is on and working. While the AC is working and blowing cold air, the clutch keeps spinning and stopping like every 5 seconds.

And I just read that it might be low on freon which will cause the AC compressor clutch to not spin. But the truck is blowing really cold air so I'm not sure what's going on until I check the freon pressure.

Did your battery recently die? Or did you replace it. If so, its probably normal.

No, same battery. Just checked the freon and it is in the normal full range. I'm just gonna change the whole AC compressor this weekend. Is there anything else related to AC like sensors, etc., I should check first?

Low Freon pressures equate to low temperatures(coming out of your vents) but that doesn’t mean it’s running properly. The system runs off of a low pressure switch to turn on and off based upon demand. If it’s low on gas that explains the clutch engagement frequency. A new compressor won’t solve a leak issue. Look for oil or use a Freon sniffer. Leaks usually happen at a oring bulkhead or the most common and easily replaced is the Schrader cores. Have a shop evacuate and pressure test for leaks and install new Schrader cores.
New compressors usually don’t come with oil, if your hell bent on replacing the compressor, so look up the specs and add oil as needed

As my teenage son would say… bruh.

Did you compare high and low side pressures? “normal full range” is not a valid pressure.

A couple hundo for a proper diagnosis is cheap compared to throwing parts and $$ at HVAC problems.

Like I said, the AC blows cold. I bought the AC Pro Freon yesterday and hooked the hose with the gauge to the low side with the engine running and AC on high and the gauge said it was full. My problem is the AC light sometimes flashes and when I turn off the AC and back on, it’ll continue flashing. I’ll have to keep turning the AC off when it’s flashing and turn the AC back on to hopefully see the AC light stop flashing and when the AC light is on, it’ll blow cold. What else could be making the AC light flash? If it’s for sure the AC compressor, then I’ll change the compressor this weekend with an OEM compressor from Denso that already has oil in it. Just release the Freon and remove and install the AC compressor should be an easy job for me.
