The question is will she pay for it once the free subscription runs out? Currently $49.95 per month or $495 per year.

100% she will, they do a lot of road trips and love it. $500 a year isn’t a big deal. Pretty much everything we do is going that way, doesn’t bother me either.

I knew the button did more. So I played with it yesterday. If you push and hold for a few seconds, it'll turn off whatever is currently on. Then it's just a tap to turn those back on. Then another tap just cycles the lane centering off and on.

I find the centered mode lane assist too annoying to use. I can feel all the micro adjustments the system makes in the steering wheel and it seems really jerky. I wish there was a way to mellow it out a bit (slow gradual adjustments). I do use lane assist without centering on long trips on the highway. It's also really helpful when you're looking out the side windows in a National Park because you want to take in the view and not run off the road.

I have found at times that lane assist will try and crash my truck in the city. It can get confused (especially when the sun is causing a lot of glare) and will try and run you off the road. I've had this happens a few times and that's why I typically keep it turned off.

I find it interesting how the exact same system can be hated by some and loved by others. Says a lot about people, I guess. Will leave it at that.
    I like my truck's safety system (22 SR5).
Dynamic cruise works great and lane centering works great. I realize that it is a truck, not a Mercedes or Tesla, and accepts it as that, therefor I do not have unrealistic expectations.
If Toyota improves it on future models I will be glad to have that, but for the time being I am happy with the way it works.

LTA is not terrible with tighter constraints, its does what it claims. LCA is not up to par, it wanders way too much to be considered centering. These modes should be combined. DRCC is pretty good, it is very limited by compute and sadly can not be updated or improved. I do like DRCC, saves fuel and is fairly responsive, except in quick decision situations. I also noticed high lift or high trailer vehicles are not (seen) read by the system well. Ive had my DRCC creep up way to close to a big rig several times, and slow/stop way too late in other normal driving conditions. The main issue is when the cameras and the sensors do not jive, the computer is very slow to make a decision. I stopped using LTA/LCA and only use DRCC, but I do not trust it in traffic or very busy road conditions.

I know what you mean. LCA ping pongs me side to side too much. I thought I seen a setting where you can tweak it some. I may be thinking of park sensors though. Shortly after I got my truck in 22, I was playing around with LTA and it tried to run me off the road. It was just a side road and the lines were hot or miss. After a couple times , I quit playing with it unless I'm on the interstate with good solid lines.
